Just Keep Swimming

It's a good time to keep a seaworthy vessel in reach...

Two weeks ago there was excessive rain in New England which caused river flooding for many cities n towns. Folks who'd never had a problem before had water coming in, roads closed, n homes flooded. Folks were calling the high water a "hundred year" happening.
.
Now that the ground is saturated, water levels are all high, n there's no room for containing or absorbing more- the past several days has seen the second "Hundred year" storm rains, raising river levels again within a few weeks time. This time around many rivers are expected to set new records. The rivers won't finish cresting for two more days.
.
The last time there was such high rainfall in one month was back in August of 1955 as heard on WCVB Ch 5 news (Pics n info available at thebostonchannel).
.
Route 24 in Fall River is closed due to river flooding over the road. There was a mudslide, n a huge road sink-hole washout. In Free town a whole 1k home neighborhood is cut-off without a passable road. Middleboro is also getting flooded. (These places are just a short drive away from me here). Some of the stores my company delivers to will be affected.
.
The Sudbury, Assonet, Blackstone, Charles Rivers are all above flood stage n have so many folks at their mercy, a State of Emergency's been declared in those areas. Rhode Island is also seeing historic flooding in the Pawtuxet River zone.
It all translates to more lost school time, homes, business, jobs, n trouble with insurance companies. So much trouble in so little time...
.
I'm feeling very fortunate to live where I do, because this place hasn't been so affected. Knowing about it sure makes me want a rowboat tied to the porch tho...

(Pics are the town center wharf, n the flood at the golf course on the way to fav beach after the rain two weeks ago.)
I also reported on MA state flooding in May 2006 on ESR . This week I'm having a heck of a time staying online, btw- (just got a power out during this posting!) Just keep swimming...
