More Magical Sky Works

The clouds during that sunset last week really put on a show-  beginning very delicate n ending up bold. These pics all face the same southern shore section of the M-cove, minutes apart.

This pic reminds me of those star-burst fireworks that cascade.Yes, it was fairly windy.

Then in this one you can see how the below post pic began forming,  with the crescent moon peeking in here.

Goes to show that time progression of form n color is always interesting n unique when some clouds are involved.
I really enjoyed having these elements to work with.

Days Off this week featured thick, grey clouds at sunset time. There's even more of these sunset shots to show later...

Miss

I've missed so much sleep this week, my posting is slacking off a bit. I worked until later Days Off, plus had other stuff going on, including an appointment for a guy to do work on the house.

I spent alot of time moving things, n getting them out of the way. Including Mischief. Then while he was working all day, I had to stay awake somehow, so I puttered about doing things like winterizing, scraping, n spackling wall holes in the downstairs apartment. My reward should be better insulation from the cold n elec heat bill. Three combination windows are broken, so I put  plastic over them for another layer.I finally got the tensioner off the bike gears, n got the tire off to replace the air tube.

Today was pleasant, window-openning weather to be awake for, at least.

Now that's finally over for awhile, I have to dig my dishes, clothes n blankets back out. Still so much left to do in here. The whole place needs painting, n there's plenty more scraping n spackling for a few more days, but need to get ready for work again already.

At the store this week I found my fave stew beef shank on sale for about $1.50 so I had something to do with all those stubby carrots I grew out on the deck in the slow cooker. I added potatoes, peas, onion, n a cut tomato too. It was all ready by the time I got back from visiting down the hill a few hours, One of my fave meals, plus enough for another day.

Now the overnight is getting cold, n I'm going to catch-up on some missed zzz's...

Sky Writing

There's several good, different minute pics from the M-cove sunset taken the same evening as the "Inbetween" post. One part of the Southern sky had odd long, skinny cloud fragments which looked to me as though someone was writing very large, bold Japanese across the sky.

Inbetween

We measured steps
Of our journey
In the middle
Playfully
Thru shallow seas
N dimming skies
with pretty bright
Streaks of weariness
at day's end.

Fall in

Finally I made it to Day Off plus a quick n earlier sundown by the cove.

Yellow weed wildflowers before the D-bridge highlight more yellow accents of sunlight bouncing off the posts, plus a cottage's bright yellow door behind them.

The vines near the edge of the water, which are always first here, started to turn red already.

We've had a few very cool nights. I broke down n finally closed some of the windows at night, n found a clean throw blanket to sleep with. I picked n ate some beets today, n found a few stubby carrots for tomorrow. I washed my dusty slippers, n will want something warmer to wear around the house than the flip flops soon probably.

It's tough only getting one Day Off this week. I crammed as much into the day as possible, n hope I didn't forget any important errand items.

I like that second day best to cook n tie up loose ends. Also I feel more like writing n playing instruments. I'm not yet recovered from my soreness n have to work again, plus put in another 6 days in a row.

For 911 I didn't get to do any of my normal things this year. No post, no pics, story, or poem, no time to stop to light a candle n pray, n no movies to watch. That didn't stop me from still feeling the emotional mourning from that traumatic event all day tho. Ignoring it's commemoration in complacency just isin't an acceptable option for me. I can't believe it's been 11 years already- seems like a blink ago.

The summer weather tho, seemed to last a very long time this year...
Guess it's all a matter of perception n focus. The sunset had no remarkably unique cloud accents. But it was still beautiful to witness in it's simplicity.

More silly faces in a pretty sunset cloud pic leftover in my August file. I haven't seen a September sunset yet, n haven't had a chance to take many pics.I really like the light glowing on these clouds.
Day Off will be late this week, n I'm already worn out...

How about a brownbox zuchini salad with tomatoes n heirloom purple peppers, with sides of dragon n dinosaur...

I scored some homegrown veggies during MB's recent visit to BBM's down the hill. I only had a few minutes to visit n had to skip sleeping to make time. Now Day Off in Hurricane Issac's remnants is perfect for stewing tomatoes, making sauce, pizza, salad, n spanish rice too.

Slipping into September

Hope everyone's having a fun Labor Day week-end. I'm looking forward to the end of summer this year, in hopes work orders slow down a bit so I can get more rest. It's another crazy busy work week for me.

These are a few pics I like leftover from the beginning of August. The B-cove from the D-bridge facing the marina shown previously in the distance. This was taken the same evening as "Yellow Purple Red."

I really like the purply-pink colors of the water from that day too. I have tons of just water pics in my files.I got a moored boat in this one tho-

Here's the M-cove from the road during the second week of August. There was such a unique, textured shimmering on the clouds n reflections at that minute of the sunset. The altered versions of these weren't remarkable, so I didn't post any.

So many summer pics came out well this season, I may be posting more later.

Enjoy your families n BBQs, I don't get to relax until it's over...
