Cliff Diving

Photo by SnaggleTooth Dec 30 2012

 Reach for the sky-

Focus, center your gravity.
Get a running start toward the edge...
Then spring clear off of your toes.

Bring your arms from your sides over your head
n clapse your hands together.
Protect your skull from the impact.
Count to two breathing in deeply.

Then hold in the air,
Tuck your chin to your chest.
Enter the surface as straight as possible-
Keep your legs tightly together symmetrically.

Then you may survive if Fate allows it-
There are no guarantees...

Photo by SnaggleTooth Dec 30 2012Happy Fiscal Cliff Diving!

How angry will you be if Congress doesn't get that cliff problem at least temporarily taken care of before the deadline?
Forgiving or not forgiving?

If not affected, can you think of what you would do about it?

Photo by SnaggleTooth Dec 30 2012My paycheck will be affected the amount I usually spend on food per week. I really don't know how I can cut back more now that work hours are cut back for down winter orders.
Hungry thinking on it- Better get dinner...

Yep- We're Freezin'! Brrhhhh. Very icy- heavy stuff. Wires hanging low, branches down all over, but pretty when I opened the window today- These are all from the kitchen window pics...

Happy New Year Folks!
We really need one-
n Yes, I'll be working
But in n out of there earlier.
I may be home for the big Ha-rah..

Next

I ran out quickly to do errands today, then saw the long, "Day After" lines. I made a few quick supply grabs n found a not too slow line. I'd intended to do some 50 % off candy shopping, but totally forgot before I got in the line where I was reluctant to give up my good spot. Milk for tea n normal weekly needs got remembered at least.

There was no shortage of return folks at the service desk. I'm glad I don't need to do that. I once had to return one wrong sized top - n it was such a hassle I hope to never do it again! I don't get alot of presents or clothes these days.

I did score a new dvd player present- yay!  Last week someone at work gave me a new "The Amazing Spiderman" movie they didn't want. So it was a real treat to watch a previously unseen film at home finally. The first time in almost a year...

BBM made some nifty cookies n gave me a platefull. I've been eating so much sugar between those n candy I keep getting sugar-crash fatigue.

This weeks-long nasty sinus infection combo with allergies, plus a cold- has been whipping my butt lately. Without cheaper versions of Tylenol n Mucinex I'd be out of commission. Daily head-aches have been relentless. I'm glad the holiday rushing is over. Hopefully I'll get to slow down a little bit now.

Now tomorrow, (Thursday), we're expecting a storm, so I couldn't put off errands n rest first as I'd wanted. Looks like it'll mostly be rain here again. Haven't had one snow pic opportunity yet, but I'm guessing it won't be long.

I haven't been able to get decent sunset pics from the bridge since the first week of the month- n the Sun was so far over even then. Glad the light will increase now. This pic is from that day.

Now Christmas is history, n it's time to wrap up another year. Good thing I've overcome my superstitious fears of the number 13...

Ho, ho, ho

Wrap your heart n give it to many.

So many packages, some very heavy.

Pretty green n red  glow all thru the dark.

Shopping is over, the parties start

Alot of folks gather from far away.

Eat a meal together for the holiday.

Time for Christmas carol singing

Eggnog drinking, n Jingles ringing.

Zippetty Do Da

We interrupt our regular program to quickly mention:

Altho It's The End Of the World As We Know It

The world is still here...

I still don't have a dvd player so can't watch my 2012 movie, but Armagedon on vhs is about to be qued up for movie night... Adds a bizarre feeling to the holiday season, doesn't it?

I'm currently on another zippy machine, so hope BBM doesn't mind that I swiped this pic she took of an un-recognizable loved Little One for an image today.

Gaze

Just having one of those weeks. Been running in circles trying to get all the holiday errands taken care of, but have to slow down at the same time. After missing a day of sleep to attend the party mentioned below, I caught a cold bug along with several other folks who were there.

So I feel like doing nothing, but forced myself to the store yesterday for a small run, then stayed in today except for a late Post Office walk. Yay, I finally got my first snail Xmas card, from the Monks at Weston Priory, VT. (My uncle is a monk there). They always make a beautiful card.

I'm jealous of that this year, because I like to design cards too, but I want a printer, so haven't. I plan to send out just a few store-bought ones containing a short note. I wanted to do some of those today.

I'm only about half-way thru my to-do list for this day, n I'm pooped already...  Half is better than nada tho-
My homemade chicken soup was so good, n I needed it, along with recovery rest I really don't have time for-

Back to work tomorrow if I'm still operational, n I'm not ready for that yet either. More chores for that next... Better get to it...

Here is a pic of the decorated gazebo on the bluff with the pier in the background from today's walk.

Flyin'

The days left to ready for Xmas are whipping right by, n I'm exhausted today just thinking about it. I only have a total of 4 free days left to wrap up my present efforts-

A few gifts got given early today to save mailing expense at least, but still need to send the rest after the shopping gets all done. Too much to do, so little sleep lately.

This morning I got up very early, went to a large Little One party for J, Ate pizza n cake for breakfast, then went to work. Home after 2am, n just getting dinner now- So exhausted but not unwound. Looking forward to at least 6 hours to sleep before work tomorrow, Then another day n I'll be flyin' trying to get all this stuff done!

Is your shopping all done?

How It Goes

On the way into work the past week I've seen a couple of gorgeous sunsets with no camera or time to stop n enjoy them. The weather was all warm n nice for the workweek too. Of course now I'm Off n it's expected to be overcast n get cold again. Well at least we haven't iced over here yet.

Few pics have been shot in December so far.  I'm making very slow progress on the holiday shopping. There's so much to do n I'm still pretty grumpy from not sleeping enough.

The one thing that was already done, putting mini-lights on a little tree on the deck- already had to be done three times! A critter decided to eat the wires n chewed two brand new light strings clean in half. I don't know if it was the squirrels or the opossum who I see here often. Finally it's been lit several days now without getting attacked again, surrounded with chicken wire n hunks of some rotten, old garlic I had laying around... How festive (Not!).

This week I was reminded of the imminent approach of the end of the Mayan Calender dates on the Winter Solstice. I doubt time will end because of a number not fitting onto an ancient stone sculpture in Meso-America.

But if I thought the world would end what would I now be doing differently?

- I'd jack up the elec heat cause I wouldn't have to pay for it.
- I'd spend all my cash on yummy, fattening food like KFC.
- I wouldn't worry about saving money from my paycheck toward rent.
- Everyone would get early Xmas presents!
- The last week I'd quit work because I wouldn't get paid for it.

There's no use crying over spilled milk, but a shelf-safe box of it (for emer-
gencies) fell off the top of the frig, split open, n got all over the kitchen right after I got home from work tonight. I just spent a couple hours chasing it down instead of relaxing, but suspect the rug will probably smell sour by tomorrow. Plus I need to spend some free time washing my shoes.

This image of the Short Pier is from a couple weeks ago, on a day I went to the pier for sunset, but it was a strange, spotty, reflective, n cloudy one.
