Zorbing

"It is better to offer no excuse than a bad one."
- George Washington...

Even if it's the truth, George?
- me

My excuse is depressing holidays n working too hard for the insufficient reward. (Why haven't I blogged in so long?)
...
This view is directly opposite the post "High Water Marks" pic of monoliths (posted below, taken the same day) visable only at low tide.
...
Finally, a single day off today. Yippeezzz! (I'm SOOoo tired). I had a day from hell at work yesterday, n would like a second day to acually get to catch-up on things, maybe next week.
Thanks everyone, for all your well-wishes.
...
Christmas went ok, I guess, n I feel better now it's over. It was a grey, rainy day, too warm for snow. I woke up depressed about missing my Gramps n parents- Then got very distracted openning the factory for production, which requires a marathon run-around. A co-worker even brought me a little present I wasn't expecting.
...
I'm still doing cards, tho- cause there was just no awake -enough time to do the notes. (I do hand-written notes). Before the X-day passed it went something like: "I hope your party is more fun than mine. I'm working for Mr. Scrooge at the factory..."
...
Now I'm trying to come up with new material... for "I'm sorry this is so late----," but feel like if I don't get them all done, I'll lose contact with all these folks I've stayed exclusively in holiday rapor with so many years now. Ya don't send back out to those you got no card from last year...
A recent historical town weekly story described that in the old-days they used to just sell n send postcards for Xmas. Maybe I'll work on making some of these for next time, to save postage bux.
...
Of course it didn't help my delinquent card situation at all that last week both my scanner software n printer-heads died without any time,or funds for trouble-shooting, or a contingency plan. After designing my own cards for years now, I just can't break-down n buy some one else's design, like it's against my religion or something!
...
So far my only New Years' resolution is "Finish those Cards!"
...
(N in the growing blog-tradition of OilF's "Randomness" I bring you)
The strangest story seen on "World News Now" since my last post was about...
...
A new thrill-sport-ride in New Zealand is becoming all the rage, n the video clips sure made it look like fun. A "Zorb" is a clear-plastic, large, inflated sphere with an un-inflated, smaller, interior sphere, where the human rider can choose to bounce, roll, or glide along down the chosen course at the Zorb ranch.
...
Zorbing can be done wet or dry! The wet ride means alot less rolling n easier sliding on the plastic as it follows it's bumpy rut downhill...
...
Almost like making excuses to explain how things went awry...

Next stop, North Pole

"The excellence of a gift lies in its appropriateness rather than in it's value"

Yesterday is history.
Tommorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift,
That's why it's called "the present."
-(who wrote this, when?- I don't know-)
...
Wow, I'm really not in the holiday mood yet. There's still cards to send, n they gotta wait for a few hours of sleep. I've got a pile of cards to open n read also. I just haven't felt like doing it yet.
...
Knowing I've gotta work both Xmas Eve n day really puts a damper on the fun for me. (No holiday pay, either). All I'm planning on is a festival of soreness...
By next year, I hope I get to spend time with family instead. It'll be all I can do to wake-up for a few minutes with BBM n Baby J before work.
...
I want more bux for buying gifts, too, cause really, I prefer generous to cheap gift-giving. The new toys out for kiddies are cool, too- if ya can afford them. It's a very light gift-giving year for me.
...
At least the weather has been seasonably frigid here this week. Perhaps we'll get some snow from that (correction:) either CO or CA storm cell being squeezed by a Texas weather-maker by Sunday or Monday here, according to the weather-guy.
...
On another weather tack, NECN (New England Cable News) reported today that Central Europe is having it's warmest year ever, since record keeping began in the 1600's...
That's not comforting.
...
I wonder if the North pole is still frozen...

Disaster averted. Another near death encounter...

Sunset Shimmer

End of a day for most, it's the beginning of mine. Sometimes it's worth a two-minute stop on the other side of the D. Bridge, while on the way out to work, n look at something like this a few seconds. This was taken the last week of November during Indian Summer.

Here Comes the Cold!

The sniffles have been plagueing me the past week, as the air-Temperatures flux back n forth from freezing then back to over 50 degrees F. I'm glad for a couple days off to rest-up n recover a bit. But cold viruses aren't what I'm getting at...
...
Weather reports are showing a stormy cold front with am snowfall, then an Artic Blast (in the teens) just for Friday.
...
I've tried to avoid having to go out in the tres-frigid temps n snow by getting all the odd erands done today, n reserving most of the home chores (except insulating) for Freezin' Day.
...
Today I went out on the deck n got half of each tree's lights done...
...
(How is that possible?)! Don't you hate half-done, lame-looking Xmas decs? (Yes)!
...
Attempting to get the chore accomplished before 4:15 pm nightfall n avoid doing it in the the deep-freeze, today after awaking about 2pm, I got the old strings out of the backroom n tested them. Three out of five had light. I strung the extension cord to the downstairs outside outlet, n wound the lights carefully around each tree, finishing in the twilight of dusk. Upon plugging in I realized the tops of each tree weren't lit, n each had that part of the strings mal-functioning!
...
Great, now I have shrub-like shapes to stare at out the window until it's warm enough to try again.... grumble, grumble!
...
btw- NASA scrubbed the Shuttle take-off due to poor weather conditions this evening-

High Water Marks

Monoliths show where high tide rises to here, down-hill from the previous post's railroad tracks at the water's edge.

...

Tonight is the spring-tide (highest cycle) of the Full "Hunter's Moon." It's the coldest weather of the season thus far, n we had an inch of white frozen crystals.
