Catch the

Frozen Wave!

I've posted 8 times here now getting out of the google sign-up with this account. Everytime it tries to stick me in, n won't sign me into old Blogger, I backed out. Tonight it's dishing the "Out of Beta" message again... but they don't give you an option not to sign-up. This is completely annoying to me! Made it in yet one more time. I think it's amazing to get out of this forced issue so long... n continue to post.
...
This am we finally got a slippery inch of snow-cover here. I was so tired by daylight I went to sleep instead of getting outside to see it early. I got outside late afternoon n went to the pier. The snow was already partially melted, n I still haven't used up my "fire" roll of film, tho I did click a few.
...
Friday early am, MB called with news of my brand-new relative's arrival. I finally saw pics on Picassa of little blondie today.
...
I really fought the urge the past few days to just hop in the truck n drive 200 miles. I've been working every night until today, but I still don't have travel funds plus the rent due this week. Then I had to work close to a sick person the past two days, n don't wanna pass on any germs either. It's really tough for me waiting!
...
Then people called in n I had to stay late at work the last two nights in a row, so I'm over-tired. My hands n feet are blistering sore n the broken toe's been throbbing away from standing too much. Tomorrow's my go in early-set-up day at work again. More reasons for not driving so far today... But all of this doesn't quell my impulse of want to!
...
Now back to my previous program... of being up all night while the planet sleeps, doing chores, n trying to enjoy the few hours left before returning to the factory, ...
- instead of visiting the cute new down-line.

Don't take a long walk off a short pier... (You may crack the pretty ice).

Too Toasty

I had an exciting day with little sleep.
It was finally above freezing weather.
...
Again, I'm very happy to be alive n safe in my home right now. Have I ever mentioned I love having my stuff, especially my artworks n musical instruments?
...
I had a bizarre dream some one traded in my fav accoustic guitar for a cheap folk guitar while I wasn't looking... then awoke to a nightmare in real life, my neighbor's, not mine, TG they're OK.
...
To get out of my driveway to work today, I had to ask an ambulance to move, Four gawkers, who were leaning on my bumper, to Please excuse me, n then maneuver carefully around the cop car poorly parked in my driveway. Cots, water bottles, fire fighters, n all kinds of folks were camped out around the blocked-off corner right outside my upstairs door.
...
I'd heard doors banging, then kids screaming. I jumped up from my half-sleep, n observed two neighborhood kids right across on the corner running out of the driveway. Directly behind them, Bright orange flames licked outside the door they'd just been banging on, the noise which had woken me up.
...
I felt like a jerk going to grab my cam, openning the door n clicking away outdoors on the deck in my jammies as within a very short time, maybe less than two minutes, the entire house went up! The fire trucks, firefighters, cops, other curious folks all came trooping up to the scene. Then the helicopters n gawkers ad-nauseum.
...
The house on the Hill (Patty's old house- MB), was bought by a nice family who was always working on it the past year or so. It had new walls, siding, windows, n had been gutted n updated. Now it's been gutted again... Not a happy school vaca for these folks.
...
Cudos to the volunteer fire-fighting force for not allowing damage to the two other homes only a few feet away, n for getting it under control n mostly put out before I had to leave for work- Their intense period went from 1 to almost 4 in the afternoon.
...
I kid you not, my heart was pounding, n my guts hurt watching that fire monster take over. I'm so reminded of the twins n their mom I watched burn to death back in the '90's. I was riveted to my excellent view of the disaster, n had a heckova time getting ready for work. Then I had trouble thinking coherently all night, after all- this stupid work stuff suddenly has no importance at all after witnessing stuff like that! I did a bit of praying for these poor folks who're no longer my neighbors.
...
Now I'm home from work in the early am, next to that place. Still standing a lonely, hollow hulk of charred pieces with shiney police tape around it. A pungent burned odor hangs in the air. An alarm in there is going off- the noise will bother me all night. I wonder if its a detector or clock, n how the item could've survived the heat, hose water, n bashing in endured by the structure with the flame which hadn't wanted to go out.
...
You'll have to wait a bit for pics, it's film, n there's still exposures left. Also I'm broke until the March rent is paid, but I'm very tempted to hurry n develope it. Maybe I can sell them to the local paper. Maybe I'll choose not to-
...
Money n things aren't every thing, they're but luxuries!
Life alone is essential.

Been sooo freezin here!

In the teens with gusty winds here by the water. Wind-chills sub-Z again. Tried to get outside awhile on this day off, n after mailing some bills out, took ten minutes to feel the hands again after returning to the wonderful warmth of the truck-cab heat.
...
Alot of bad stuff in the snowy Mountain zones of the country have been happenin this week. Mount Hood UT, climbers n snow-mobiler stranded folks rescued, avalanched young skiiers dead, every one is out on the winter-sport tack- Quick, while the gettin' is good!
...
Winter took so long to show up here, but it came in deep n viscious with the jaws locked on. Still waiting for this pit-bull to let go, n haven't even gotten the snowfall here. Well, I've been saved shoveling at least!
...
A friend at work got a truck to earn plow money from the state with in order to pay for it, but they haven't made a dime!
Retailers who stocked the usual winter nessecities are taking a sales hit also.
...
February's always a tough month for me economically also. Time to make due with a four paycheck month, same as the fiver costs... Never mind the Seasonal Affective Dissorder with the loss of daylight, n the mile-marker left by the death of my Father sixteen years back.
...
For a whole day my TV remote would not work. Batteries replaced, guts cleaned, nothing, nothing.... the next day fully functional again. Thanks, Dad, for the visit on your anniversary!
Had the worst, most tiring week at work, too! Now never falling asleep when I should, not wanting too. Getting 4 hours, then working, do it again.
...
Been on the edge of my seat waiting for that announcement from MB anytime now for weeks. When will Baby L be popping out? This may make the brightest part of this coldest month for me.
...
It's off to work early again, n up way too late as usual. Waitin for the next single off day. I never feel recovered without two.
I'll be cookin at the factory.
Enjoy any warth you can find folks!

Once Again

Once more I've managed to get around the google sign-up.... Can you believe it? I'm just so stubborn! Same method. During the same white messed up migrate window. Just kept clickin the B symbol until it found the old Dashboard again... it took several tries of stopping the move part just before the google sign-up. Maybe it only happens when blogger's all screwy n starts eating everything.... that's just when I happen to be on...
...
But now publishing's a bit screwy. Just wouldn't let me add text to that pic post below in Edit Mode, for instance. This is my new Blog Experiment. I'll be sure to let you know when I have to bite the bullet...
...
For the record, what I object to (besides being forced) is giving my sign-up info to the publicly held huge company to play with.
It doesn't make me feel very safe...

Ice Flows

The sea-ice is abundant here n so is my supply of decent pics of it to post for awhile.

...

I find ice-flow formations on the shoreline are always interesting because there are never two days that appear the same. The semi-durnal tide about every twelve hours breaks, picks up, n moves the ice chunks way up onto the beach, then leaves them in heaps on dry land when the water receeds.

...

We haven't gotten the snowfall on the Cape of the Western n Northern sections of the North-East US have. After a day of rain, we got glazed over n refrozen solid with a coat of ice in time for my ride home last early am. Conditions like this make me glad I'm not one of the delivery drivers.

All we can do is try to go with the flow...

n not freeze-up!

Tiempo Interrupto

Avoiding the inevitable, as long as possible, is no longer optional. Well, wish I had more time to deal with it all... Time's the catch.
...
They're finally forcing me to change over to the Google empire, which I didn't want to do. I guess I want to write on my blog more than my paper notebooks. We all knew they'd suck us in sooner or later....
...
I do hate giving in, n don't want to deal with learning more stuff in the little free time I have to deal with life... sigh, but here I go. Apparently This takes forever with dail-up... GGrrrh! Only one day off, n early shift tomorrow.
...
Hey, after clicking the new terms, got an endless white "migrate" window, I openned another tab on the Blogger symbol, from old ESR, n it let me back to the old dashboard to post again. hmmm.... Very strange. So I don't think they made me a Google-girl today again.... cool-
...
I dropped another heavy steel thing on my right big toe knuckle last shift. Prob a hairline break, n def badly bruised. So I'm throbbing away n hobbling about again. Of course, broken toes never stopped me before. Back to work in a few more hours.
...
I would've posted on my last day off, until that must sign up thing boogered me to run away...
...
The price of free, is always time!

Pequenos Barcos a Remos

I thought it was cold here when I clicked this one next to a playground a couple weeks back. After two weeks of our Artic-special, I can't wait for 30F again...
...
Maybe I'll wake-up early enough to go down n see the ice at the boat ramp, now that we're back in the 20F's. It's been too cold to even consider going out for fun, (12F this am), but the ice has been building up out there in the absence of snow. Sea-water is about 32 percent saline, n so freezes at a much lower Temp than fresh-water.
...
After six long days in a row of constant movement at work, I'm more than ready to kick back n try to watch that Super-bowl tape. Still got ton's of errands, forms, n chores lined up, tho- wish I had more energy to accompany the time.
...
I've been spending some energy looking up n trying to remember more Portugese, which helps me out with work amigos. Hence this post title, "Little Row-Boats."

Sand n Seaweed

Life is a beach, at low tide, covered with
seaweed, in the winter!

...
A little low-angle sun goes a long way to brighten up the wave-sculptured dunes.
...
...
It's been really quiet around here, maybe a bit too quiet. I finally visited some one outside of work or store errands, for the first time since before Xmas! Pretty sad... (Good thing I like quiet).
...
All work n no play leaves much to be desired. Only one day off again, barely enough time for me to be recovered n do a little bit of catch-up. The day's almost gone already, n I'll be up all night trying to get needed stuff accomplished. This is my fun time, right here.
I really should be getting to those joyful tax instructions instead... (yuc)! So much work for getting so little back, if anything. Let's just say I really miss having dependents sometimes.
...
A strange weather day we're having... because it's normal. I can take the 30's F- seems so warm to me compared to the last few weeks. No hat needed today. I keep waiting for icy water out the window, but it keeps melting.
...
I have to work all week-end, thru Superbowl Sunday. I had a heckova time finding blank VHS cassettes for sale to tape the game. Only one spot in town has them.
...
I don't want to miss those cool commercials! I've been studying them n their effects for decades. It's amazing to see the companies which never make it even a year later, with all the losses, closings, law-suits, n hostile buyouts-sell-offs.
...
I don't know about your towns, but in mine, not one company is hiring new people. (Not even McD's)! Most folks I chat with are getting hours cut back, n need a second job they can't find yet.
...
Were I a truck driver, tho- I'd have it made... Unless I was making deliveries around BeanTown where all the bridges got closed down yesterday due to "suspicious devices " planted all over public ways. Turns out that was just one more very expensive advertizing spoof, funny enough, for the Cartoon network, n just before Superbowl Sunday...
...
... A lit-up character, giving the finger- I wonder how much that one will cost, as opposed to the 2-mill-30-second spots. Or will it generate more than it pays in fines for the Bomb-squad service?
...
Just a little light...
"For much wood, a little fire suffices."
... -wise saying from the Orient
