Ju Ju

The Juju fish are melting... What a hot, humid month we've had here.

I made it back to a short half-dip to the village beach again this week. My legs really miss all the toe-dipping I used to do at the old place. Now every thing is so much more inconvenient n time-consuming.

I've had zero computer time this week. So I'm posting less extensive pics than I'd normally get to.

My bush tomato container fell over last week- probably critters, so my first tomato wasn't ripened all the way yet. Then there is the weird, gourd-looking cucumber. Well, it tasted good, just wish it had been fatter!

Now the cuke vines are dried up looking all done.
The drought is so bad here, even when you water often it dries right up.

Maybe we'll get some storms with rain tomorrow - I'm hoping.

I used to post these reflected mirror, color, texture altered pics all the time.

It all needs a good drenching. I've been eating the  few peas n green beans the last couple weeks, so it isin't a total loss. There will be more tomatoes. I put bricks around the base to hold it up.

Of course I have so little garden time here it's amazing I get anything...

My fave Dollar Tree dish n my first fruits - Oh yeah, that's my Lavender in the pic.  I've had some in my room every week. Not allergic to it n just love that smell.

Have a good rest of July!

SunFlower

Last week I didn't get to water the garden twice, but I managed to this week. The hot sun n lack of rain in Eastern MA is making it difficult to keep the crops going. Most noticeably my container bush tomato is wilted every time I get back there. At least it hasn't lost any green tomatoes yet.

I ate a beautiful Zucchini for dinner last night, the first container one I ever had success with. Yep, in a Smart Pot n behind chicken wire. Last week I finally got to eat some green beans n peas too. Probably I'll pick the first cuke when I get home. It has a weird, gourd shape.

The garden has been so much work this year, with parts disappearing overnight. This week the row of onions are suddenly missing! Plus Many weeds are taking over n I'm out of time to keep getting them out.

I rescued a large Bumble Bee doing the breast stroke in my water bucket pouring it gently on the late, ground-planted tomatoes, n he did seem very grateful. Bees always have a tough time in droughts.

I'm having a tough time keeping up with everything. No time for much besides chores n  garden. I'm away from the house most of the time, going earlier to work now, n relaxing so little. Work is crazy almost every day, but somehow I still do all that moving of food stuff. It will take me some time to recover from this very busy season, n this past year of different living conditions.

Been watching the "Divergent" movie series this week. I had the first dvd here, then found the second."Insurgent" at the library last week. I found the last, "Allegiant," at the store this week- Yay!

I got a little, potted Sunflower for the windowsill for $2 last week. Already the heat n room conditions are withering it, but it would get eaten fast by critters for certain if put outside here. I wonder if the secondary flower buds would bloom if I cut the main one off, or if it would just die  anyways- This room has been tough to live in for most of the plants, (n me too).

Now back to blog browsing, then getting outside for a walk...

Water's Edge

Difficult to believe it's already halfway thru July.

This week I finally made it back to the beach in my old village for a short visit. I'd intended to swim n skip shopping, but my plan changed. Not only was it so windy, but the beach was more crowded than I like. Also I did need to get things at the store for the up-coming work-week, n won't go to the store with wrecked water-hair.

So I only got half-wet, walked around a bit, n headed to the store for errands only to discover most things I wanted were sold out. Luckily the still had my bread, but I'll need a separate trip for sinus pills which I'm out of.

Lately I've noticed I really feel like an outsider around the village these days. The atmosphere seems different n more tourist-y if that is possible. Like everyone in sight has tons of money n the everyday folks I'm used to can't afford to relax there. They aren't at the beach, but all working like crazy.

There were tons of families with children everywhere, all out on summer vacation n as usual I was the only one in a hurry on a limited time schedule. I don't use sunscreen n want to avoid getting burned anyways.

I like this pic of this beach section by the pier alot. Not only is it almost in focus in the windy conditions, but barely anyone is recognizable, plus the hovering seagull is visible. Tough to judge what I'm doing when the strong light makes the screen tough to see. (I don't know any of the folks there).

Hope I get back to the beach again before summer is over...

The Cost

The cost of staying independent is high for me these days. I give up my sleep, family time, work on holidays, n have too much to accomplish on a back-log list. Without working my job from Hell I have no way to pay rent n stay in this area.

This week I have paid n then some. Still working on recovering. The OT in my pay will help me save more needed funds for short - term goals, but still I think winning the lottery jackpot is my best way to hurry n solve  all my pressing problems. I'll be buying more mega Millions tickets today...

Sometimes I wonder why I go thru all this, n I think of just taking off somewhere else for awhile, but the truth is I like it here n want to stay. Most local folks here are friendly n kind as you do business around town. Seeing familiar faces in my travels is a perk I like in my daily life.

The more I bump into folks n hear of their trouble paying to live here, struggles with health issues, n fighting with the disability system denying them for barely survivable funds, the more I wish I could hit the jackpot n help them all pay to live for awhile.

Getting older the way life is these days can be a tough pill to swallow. I wish I could help take away some of my friend's stress, n mine as well.

I'd like to just kick back n enjoy some of this sweltering heat, but darn it's a low - tide day! Instead I'll be out walking in it no where near the beach.

Traffics been so low in blogland lately I wonder why I bother posting, but I like my familiar blogger folks too. I had to return my library dvds n go get lottery tix anyhow. I watched Jurassic Park IV known as "Jurassic World," n "The Kingdom of Heaven" directed by Ridley Scott with Orlando Bloom n Liam Neeson about the start of The Crusades. It was a very gory film with parts difficult to understand, I think, tho I liked the actors.

"Find the Cost of Freedom"  " from the "So Far" album is one of my favorite Crosby, Stills, Nash, n Young  harmony tunes. I love the way Stephen Stills plays the guitar instrumental. If there's ever a memorial service for me I want them to play that track because I identify with it.
