Some is Better than None

This week I finally got 3 out of 5 asked for days  off. So next to my regular days it adds up to 5 Days in a row. Yippie! The beginning of September is the last time I had this many.

Barely making a dent in my tired condition, but there's so much less stress at least. Finished the Federal tax form, n half-way thru the state instructions. This stuff really needs a clear head to read.

Began some clean-up planters stuff, have seeds n also am trying out new  blueberry bushes in containers. Need a new bush tomato one to avoid blight. Don't want my stuff in the actual ground so if I move I can take them along.

I raked a bit from the back garden here, but it was pretty cold yesterday. Today is way better, but out getting online, n walking back. Planning more exercise.
Also dug out the free weights from the closet because I need to fix the weaker side from work again. They were out of reach too long!

Another chilly Polar vortex is expected in this week-end, so I put off some planting stuff. I figured having something else to do besides the tax stuff would help my mood a bit. Still trying to get to the play guitar point. Two days left to relax before it's back to the old grindstone again.

Spring flowers are coming up.
Hopefully I'll be more refreshed as well...

Fogwetting

I'm having "The brain can't keep up week." I'm still waiting to get time off I asked for weeks ago, but other folks there have better reasons to bump me back, I guess. (like medical emergencies).

The  Brussels attack thing just has me in flash-backs of what it was like to hear about 911 n the Boston Marathon events, feeling for people's trauma without being able to do anything about it but pray.

I've been so forgetful this week. I'm always in a rush n can't go back- too. I forgot to bring my phone when leaving for the day three times this week. The charger zone is too far from the door, so I don't have a visual reminder before locking up n leaving.

The tough day was the one I forgot to take my wallet out of the old pants the night before, n didn't realize until almost at the store that I had no money, ID of any kind, or a phone to help ID myself. I had to continue onward to get to work. I cancelled the errand stop, n wrote a note for my pocket about someone to call in case of emergency, taking a long time to recall a non-cell number without the contact list you don't need to memorize anymore, because of the phone doing it for you.

I got thru my work-week at least- Now on Day Off. Then I noticed the time swipe card in my pocket. Now I have to call the boss n explain I forgot to punch out, n took the card by accident. Yikes! You know you're working too hard when you do this stuff unconsciously...

It was the same workday a supervisor threw a box in the storage area, which fell off a shelf then hit the fire-box alarm- pull station, which went off. It's really loud, with flashing lights. The fire department comes automatically n has to check n re-set it. So we all shut off our food machines n filed outdoors to wait. At least it wasn't freezing or rainy, n still light out.

It could've been a better break, but I was the last one out n had to hold open the self-locking, outer door for access to the fire-system reset box.

It took awhile for the inspection n reset. When I had to wave everyone back in, I got silly, kept waving n I said "Thank you for evacuating,. Have a nice work-day, n Thank God you didn't go to Brussels today! Happy Flying" I felt like an airline stewardess (In the "Airplane" film). Everyone was giggling on the way back in.

Life may go on, but I'm always affected.  Perhaps I watched the show "M*A*S*H" too much in my childhood.

I broke down n got a bluish friend to keep the reddish Violet company n to cheer me up.

Everyone can use more Green

It's a lucky color.

I'm not Irish, but the color's association with prosperity, plants, n a healthy planet environment make the color popular in my surroundings. I tend toward darker, saturated, foresty greens, or camouflage tones n like to mix it up with purple.

Most folks these days are wearing the trendy, lighter, brighter (almost yellow) neon tones. I almost always avoid wearing any "That wakes me up!" tones you'd expect a highlighter marker to be.

I have a bright, reflective green gift-bag from Xmas-time on my table here only because it's green, nifty to look at. A pic of a hanging flower crystal in front of it with the chiffon-like handle hanging down is how I made these images today. I didn't even alter the texture or color first.

These next are more altered, as per usual.

Photo by SnaggleTooth March 2016This is a small notebook doodle done with highlighters awhile back. I should doodle more sometime. Those are done best when not thinking much...

This larger, erase board one is still next to my door here. I sense a similar theme, that what you don't get to see of a creature makes it a scarier thing.

So Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Lichen

 Last Week:

Winter is showing
Up in spring.
Out of Season
Is the thing...

That's normal now,
Fire-nados true.
Nature's reason -
Give a clue.

Strong wind is blowing
Down tempo brings
In so freezin'
Icy stings.

I so miss my cove sunset pic walks. Once in a blue moon walking home from the library I can see a few pretty clouds tho. This is from Jan 21. It looks like the sky painted a fire-nado.

This Week:

Wednesday:

Folks out in Louisiana
getting flooded.
Weather just raining some out,
drying to drought for others,
snowing for the wrong regions,
storms in the wrong seasons,
n summa where
it should still be freezing.
What's the deal...
Nature is shuffling her deck!

What a difference weather can make in your life. A perfect 60 F degree day here with the sunshine n high stratus clouds had me longing for the bridge at the cove for sunset yet again. Almost summertime for a few hours. Thinking of planting things... but paranoid of the weather swings.

Alot of drama going on for folks around me. A very tired, over-worked guy fell asleep at the wheel, n took out the trash cans n parked van before hitting the pole in front of where I live. Because the house was so loud all day long, (The owner has been babysitting a 3-year-old every morning), I never picked out the noises of crashing as unusual n didn't notice until some one told me what happened.

No one seemed to know or care about the condition of the driver, they were concerned the insurance company wouldn't total the van so they could get a new vehicle. Why do folks always try to profit from somebody else's misfortune?

This week going thru all the Lord of the Ring movies, n the first two Hobbits are next. Also saw the Tom Cruise Sci-Fi film "Oblivion," Which I liked for originality n well-orchestrated CGI droids.

Plants usually get more attention from me when it's nice out like this. I need to repot all my indoor plants, especially the ones from the bin the cats knocked down of Jade n Aloe. The cut back bare impatiens in the window are sprouting leaves, n the lone surviving African Violet has sprouted a single blossom this week, even tho I only get sunrise n sunset rays at the window here. The ancient Xmas cacti are alive n growing, but decided not to bloom here so far. I wish I was rested enough to have more ambition myself.

This week-end is Spring Ahead one hour for the clocks, n I'm going not looking forward to more missed sleep this week. More daylight hours should help my mood a bit tho.

Hopefully the days asked for vaca toward the end of the month get approved so I can get caught up a bit. Really I need them now - but I'll take what I can get at this point. Onward another week...

The Brain isTaxed

Been trying to find one little section of something in the HC forms I'd found easily years ago, but the online clutter has become so bad, it is too well hidden, n so I don't have time for more searching plus blogging.

Yep, want to blog a few minutes. Being so time limited online is so limiting. So much to look for, n tired of always being in a hurry. Not able to figure out the home wifi on my machine there. Maybe I'm too far away from the router, but not going to move my stuff out of my room, especially with so many cats who attack everything.

I'm a bit frazzled today. Had a rhyme written to go with this pic, but it will have to go on later. Thought I'd saved it to the stick-drive, but must only be on the home file.

Will put it in as an update post later. No other pics done this week to put up- have slowed way down with using the old, slow machine purchased back in 2001... Amazing it still works! Been preoccupied finding the better old photos I need to save, n can use alot more memory sticks to archive it all.

Time is running out again, going to go read quickly n wait another week. Until Taxes are done, I can't do it as I'd like.
I'll be back next week to explain this pic...
