Sail Away

Nice little Catamaran rig- must be great to have the money n time to take advantage of the couple afternoon, rainless hours we had at high tide. My toes got in the cove for about two minutes while I was clicking away at the strangers.
.
At least the next week of all my free time will be spent moving stuff so construction work can get done on the house by the landlord. In two days I've gotten six hours of sleep. I really hate going around day-people's idea of a schedule while I still have to work OT at night! I'm zonked until further notice...
.
I so000 wanted to jump in the water n read the end of my book today. I ended up not doing much I wanted to at all. It's tough to watch folks like this having so much fun n time, while living here n not getting to, thanks to other people's plans n hectic schedules-
.
Sorry for the rant at happy folks! Really, I need sleep, relaxing, n reading, not a million chores added to my itinerary instead of focusing on getting ready for the wedding trip on Saturday. I won't get it, any time to relax, that is, so won't be reading blogs at all for awhile. I apologize in advance - time is being pulled away from me this week especially.
.
I'll be back when I can n peek here n there...

Watery Shack

.
.
.
We're finally basting in our own juices here the past two days. (80+F) Of course, they're work days, so I haven't made it back to the water yet. Pic of the reflected Harbor Master's Shack on the pier was taken two weeks ago on the same day as the ripples post. I just think it's great when the water reflection shows better contrast tones than the actual McCoy...
.
One more workday before Day Off, when I'm sending Little Truck to the shop for some maintainence. I'll be hanging about home all day. Hopefully it doesn't rain so I can go walking about toe-dipping n cool off a bit. I finally had some free minutes before work today to get the large-box fan washed. Haven't needed it before yesterday! Now it's in the window pulling out all the hot air from having the house closed up while I was at work.
.
This is the hottest I've been here all year... I'm not complaining- I'm reporting that it's about time! (It's kinda a relief summer heat finally remembered us...)

Surfing

.
.
.
Wish I could've gotten out to fav beach today, because the sunset was pretty, resembling this one from July 2008. The pic shows a kite surfer, n a windsurfer in the foreground. Another pic was better to post at that time, I guess.
.
I wish I'd the money for the gear n time to play out there, it looks fun, but alot of work. There's a wind-surfing club, n guys going out near the bird sanctuary every year.
.
Chores have me too tied up now that we finally got a no-rain afternoon. I slept late, knowing I won't get enough rest again for the next two weeks. Errands were dominated by searching for what's needed for next week's road trip. Now I'll have to finish getting ready before n after work the rest of the week. After the wedding it's right back to another week of work.
.
Maybe after that I'll get another chance to play beach-comber, n wave-hopper. It all depends on the direction n fetch of the winds, the weather, n available time. (So does ESR...)

Lovely

.
.
.
A lovely rainy Day Off in progress, but that didn't stop me from taking a few pics in the milder, daylight, sprinkle section. Three days ago, Rain Toad guzzled three inches of water. Before the new storm tonight, The gauge was close to two inches, (as shown below). I'd never imagined getting such frequent use out of the rain meter this summer...
.
Now over-night here comes more water n wind with a risk of coastal flooding due to spring-tides on south facing shores.
.
No beach walk for me today, n not just because of the weather. I'm a bit challenged just trying to walk through the market, n have been moving a bit slower due to a metal item falling from about a four-foot height onto my big toe (again). It's still a lovely shade of purple, n too sore to wiggle. Got a good contusion going, but I think the bone is okay. Staying off my foot isin't an option.
.

I'm off it now, finally, four days after the fact- n many chores still beckon attention. So many more things await clear weather, too. For now, I'll be sticking to sit down work n slacking, until the required ten hours of heavy-week-end-order-crazy-time on my feet at work tomorrow.
.
Next week, I'll be tied up with getting to a wedding in Rhode Island. I hope the rain lets up for the festivities. Which reminds me, I still need to find shoes, n have no way to tell if sandals will do, or freeze my aching toe!

.
This pic of my Fav residents beach was taken the first week of June. I'm sure it's alot more crowded these days- but I haven't made it back there this month yet.
.
This week I've seen at least four honey bees! It's the most I've seen locally in a few years. I'm relieved they're not extinct here, n believe I know where the hive is nearby up in the trees across the road. I'm allergic to bee stings, but unless you directly threaten them, you have nothing to fear from honey bees. I wonder if the noticeable comeback is due to the abundant rain this season? I've been delaying cutting the clover on the lawn, plus I'll only do it just before sundown, so they're back in the hive.
.
Awhile Back in 2008, I did a post about "Where's the Buzz?" n how scary Honey-bee extinction is to contemplate when you consider plant pollination without them.
Until this week, I'd only noticed hornets n Bumble bees around the yard. Now, I'll be a bit more careful when checking out the nearby blossoms, so I don't disturb the nectar workers.
.

Nope, I don't have pics of them. My cam stinks at close-ups anyway. I'm having a slow pic week here. As predicted, I'm slowng down on bloggy lately, tho I've been reading more.
.
Personally, off-line, I'm not slowing down at all.
Yikes, am I too sore this week- due to doubled work-orders n daily OT.
.
I don't wanna blog, (or bang on de drums all day,) I wanna go swimming! (n haven't yet-)
I'd been planning to write a post something like this: "Finally an 80 degree non-pouring Day off. Fav beach time- So off I went..."
But nope, the first muggy n warm summer-like day came with clouds n showers. Oh well, there's still a chance next Day Off will be warm n non-afternoon-rainy, while the tide is still halfway high. Then of course next week it will be less fun, low tide again. It's tougher to plunge under the waves in water two-feet deep between the sandbars without getting pinched by crabs that way...
.
Diving under large bouncy waves n going over my head is my prefered definition of swimming. I've been a great under-water swimmer since I was a year n a half old. Guess I scared the heck out of my mother a few times. I'm really good at treading water n floating also. Yep- It's a tragedy to live here n not get into the bubbly brine a minimum of once a year.
.
Most folks make a day long field trip out of a beach day. I never do that, n don't want to. I swim for 20 minutes to a half-hour, get out, dry-off about 15 minutes, then leave. I have to watch out for horsefly bites, which I also react to. It makes me swell up like a balloon, n won't stop without ice packs n benedryl. I have to be vigilant on the beach to avoid that problem.
.
Yes, I must be patient. The Honey Bees will not die out today. A hot Day Off when I have time to swim at high tide with no horsefly stings will happen. Just not today... (Rats!)

How Convenient on 7-11

.
.
After only a few hours of sleep today, I was able to wake up n make it to recycling before 1pm to unload six months of plastic bottles n tin cans. I'd wanted to get it done so long ago, but always have trouble getting up in time, on a day without other priories. My work hours make it near impossible for me to get there during the few hours per week they're opened.
.
Finally, a bonus for me- Day Off with warmth n sunshine, awake! Well, not feeling great n rested- but able to take advantage of good conditions. After a couple errands were run I got back to the house n spent an hour resting on the deck reading n getting some sun.
.
I went down the hill n visited awhile with the energetic little ones, who'd gone on a field trip earlier to the back beach for the first time this season finally. After that I was totally tired, but managed another trip to the store to replenish my ice cream supply.
.
I'll have to find a more awake day to get the lawn done...

Award

Be it new or old,
It be soft or bold.

Original award

Awhile ago I was honored to received the very prestigious Kreativ Blogger Award from Talon.
Talon's photography on "Barely Scratching The Surface" has amazed me, n her images of blossoms, wildlife, n pets is superb. She writes original, entertaining verses of prose n poetry which stimulate emotion n contemplation.
.
Strings attached to the award include sharing 7 interesting things about myself.
Previously on ESR I've posted Seven Dings, n 5 bad habits memes on similar themes of stuff about me. I try to remain somewhat anonymous but truthful on ESR, so this is a challenge for me.
.............................................................................
1. I have redesigned the pic which goes with the Kreative Blogger Award, due to my creativeness. The old pic seemed like something my needlepoint grandmother would like better. The new update more fits my personality. I used the old elements as basis for the new. What do you think?

2. I also added the "e" onto the end of the word Kreative. Force of habit due to having worked for "Kreative Creamery" one July past, who are still famous for Ice Cream pies sold (by slice) in many Cape restaurants.

3. I also worked for the company that made the Creamery's product labels n spent years making those labels, along with many others. Perhaps I'd find working for the Post Office sorting Zip codes to be more fun than that.

4. I have a talent for procrastinating on all list things about me. I received this award on June 27 2009, n feel I have waited sufficiently, now being almost three weeks n 6 blog posts later.

5. I am un-coffee-nated. Every day I drink at least three kinds of tea. Orange-black before work, Green after work, n Chamomile at bedtime. I quit coffee in 2002 when I had to have 3 "Great Ones" per day n I was still tired.

6. Today I hit 10 bux on a 2-bux instant lottery ticket. Yay! I try to buy one each week.

7. I often talk aloud to myself, (God, the cat, the ghosts, n the angels), when no other humans are present. My Dad used to do that, so it's kinda a habit of tribute. (That's my excuse) N sing stuck in my head tunes too. I spend most of my free time humanly solo. I don't believe this makes me crazy.
..............................................................................
Then naturally I'm suposed to curse, I mean name (tag), ahem- pass on the famed Award to 7 folks to continue the curse, m award. The last meme passing on didn't go too swift. Only got one Good-Doobie-Meme-Doer out of the lot. Thanks MB.
.
All the blogs I visit deserve a Kreative Blogger award, for they all have unique content n wonderful writers n/or photographers. Most are listed on my sidebar in my extensive list. All have links leading back to their blogs in my comment pages. Seek n ye shall find Creation.
.
Any one who wishes to begin an award list of their own has permission to use my new pic, just please give SnaggleTooth a link credit in return. Go ahead n list 7 things about you, n hand out 7 awards. Be as creative as you wish...

Independence

.
.
A few folks claimed their turf early before fireworks time. By 9pm, there was no spare space as shown here about 8pm on our way down to the front beach.
.
I was lucky to get the day off, n got to go to fireworks with the folks down the hill. It felt strange to be in a group for once.
.
In the past decade or so, I've been on my own for events like this. The three previous fireworks in my village I had to work, n one of those was cancelled with short budget bux for security. Then they decided it was economically bad for the town not to have them. A couple others before were too foggy, or I decided to avoid the throngs n stay home instead.

Many times the only option was be alone there or not go.

It can be very difficult n alienating to be in a huge crowd by yourself when it seems everyone else is in a group.
One time in my brave independence at a BMG band gig back in the '90's, I was by myself in a venue of a 10k audience (as a roadie). It's an occasion I'll never forget. Few people have the confidence for such a feat.

After all my years as a single parent after divorce, n then in an empty nest, I've come to embrace my independence, as well as my country's birthday.
.
Finally, I got to share this event with others after so long! Unfortunately, the little ones got very antsy, n necessitated an early departure before the finale`... something I'd never do if on my own... Hense no pics of that Part. Oh well.
There are good n bad points about being independent...

SpongeBob SquarePants is visually just to the left of the baby, near the pic center inbetween the blond woman's head n the boys black hair. Much easier to find in this version, eh?

OL

Post to be continued below...

Do NOT Adjust your Set...

.
Here I am, currently sitting inside my Outer Limits episode on the second of July... This is too good to be true! Another Day Off without the expected crowds to enjoy.
.
Of course the almost constant rain, thunder n lightning prob has alot to do with the neighbors traveling delay for the big week-end. I'm so certain I'll awaken tomorrow to a loud roar from their descent into my immediate home zone below my feet n right outside the windows.
.
Late this afternoon, the sky did open to some blue, with smatterings of sunlight. I walked about n caught some budding blossoms which aren't as detailed as I'd like. I make do with what I got, the relative quiet considering the date, the sudden available dry daylight, my immediate location, n what my little digi cam can see.
.
For today's perusal are the ripening Huckleberries outside the bathroom window, Tiger Lillies by the woods across the street, Purple giant clover in the lawn, Honeysuckle vines up in a tree, bramble roses begin budding in the yard (all posted above), n wild primroses keep dingies company by the b-cove.
.
Back to enjoying the piece de peace destined not to last ...
(I'm surprized-) !
