TreeSun

Note: This particular view will soon be unavailable due to foliage...
.
I always try to get the major outside chores out of the way before the tree pollen takes control of my sinuses. It's not all raked yet, tho, n the maples are already sprouting. At least we've had several days of mild warmth, n I've managed a few stray minutes to feel photon energy on my face before work this week.
.
Usually getting more sunlight improves my mood alot. My mood has been rather sour tho. Both work n home have me aggrivated. I'd like to take time off away from the noisy folks downstairs n get enough sleep.
.
I hope this Day Off will improve my spirits instead of darkening my thoughts more...

Swine Flu

.
I got home after work, then heard a news report on TV about a Swine Flu pandemic alert. Sounds pretty scary, how it's spread aleady around the globe, as far away as New Zealand!
.
Apparently most of the damage has occurred in Mexico with about one hundred deaths! There've been cases reported in Canada n the USA. Texas, New York, n a few other states were mentioned. There was even a White House Press conference aired on a Sunday to announce a public health emergency. Schools are shutting down for disinfection. Folks with symptoms are urged to stay home for forty-eight hours.
.
This is one bug to be taken seriously. Luckily I already have a supply of nose-mouth masks (which are so hot to wear). It's probably only a matter of time before we're all exposed, n vaccine formulation takes at least six months to invent in the labratory. World News Now (abcnews.com) reported it's treatable with tylenol n Tamiflu. The way the news is presenting the story sure caught my attention! This sign (pic) is a bit under the weather too...
.
Keep washing the hands... n doorknobs, faucets, ect... Stay away from coughing folks.
Good luck n good health to us all!

Spring-a-ling

Photo by SnaggleTooth April 2009 .
.
.
On Day Off I wandered in search of proof of spring n easily found it on my way out to errands. The daffodils n forsynthias are blooming prolifically around town.
.
The Weather is slated to improve dramatically for the week-end. After an entire week of drenching April showers, Thursday was a welcomed change of warm n partly cloudy. Photo by SnaggleTooth April 2009It was so windy, even the road puddles had wave ripples!
.
We're expecting some instant summer-like temperatures around here. The water temp is reported to be up to 46F. Altho it'll stay cooler because of that by the water, I'll be glad to deal with 60F degrees anytime now.
.
Photo by SnaggleTooth April 2009The next few days I'll be busy with visitors who couldn't have picked a better week-end to come down. I expect alot of quality family people time, but still can't miss any work. Again I'll be cutting down on sleep in order not to miss out.
.
Blog-Land activities are certain to lag behind until I can catch-up again. Next week I should have more getting around time again. The region may be springing, but I'll be dragging!
.
Of course now that I'm ready to put this post in the editor, my ISP is down n won't connect... It may get published a bit late- Yep it had to wait a day, but will predate publish time.
.
Enjoy the warmth Northeners!

Gilligan's Isle

Sit right back and you'll hear a tale
a tale of a fateful trip
It started on this tropic board
aboard this tiny ship.
.
The mate was a mighty sailor man,

the Skipper, brave and sure.
Five passengers set sail that day
on a three-hour tour, a three-hour tour!
.
The weather started getting rough,

the tiny ship was tossed!
If not for the courage of the fearless crew,
the Minnow would be lost, the Minnow would be lost!
.
The ship set down on a shore of this uncharted desert isle,

with Gilligan, the Skipper too,
the Millionaire, and his Wife,
the Movie-star, the Professor, and Mary-Ann,
Here on Gilligan's Isle!
.
Yep, I know every word n note from the good old days. Actually, these lyrics were posted on ESR awhile back in September 2005 in a Post titled "My Isle."
This is how I know I'm a Relic...

Relic

.

.

This aft has seen better days. She's been in dry-dock over a decade that I remember, prob since Hurricane Bob in '91. This is located next to the fishing pier in the center of town in a roped off, "No Tresspassing" area.

I'm feeling old n tattered lately too...

GangPlank

.
.
Another sleepy day off after so much missed rest lately had me struggling to get up by four in the afternoon! I could see glimpses of sunlight from the windows before continueing my sleep, but by the time I did get up, skies were overcast n it was spitting sparce, intermittent
raindrops.
.
I finally made some clean-up progress out in the yard this week, due to the downstairs folks not being around. I had to buy a new barrel to replace the recently stolen one. I also got a little trellis for the bramble rose to lean on, so dug out the grass around it n cleared the deadwood from when they ran over it a few times in the snow a few months back. Some raking got done out front despite the raindrops before it got dark today. Hopefully, I wasn't too quick to remove the leaves from the front garden. Time n lack of frozen crystals will tell. The little evergreens, sprouted tiger lillies, n Boston Ferns will do alright in the cold, anyways.
.
Two weeks ago I'd cleaned up the woods area right across from my house, but today I couldn't tell, due to a host of fresh dumpings. Lazy litterbugs! The neighbor's trash pick-up guys seem to let more stuff fly out of the truck than they dump in it, too. I picked up a bunch of billowing plastic stuff n a broken open large garbage bag of dirty beer cans strewn all over the place in there. It was still light outside at seven-thirty!
.
I think it'll be at least another three days to finish getting leaves n sticks off the deck n side yards, if I don't have to keep up with more trash getting in the way. it's definately preferable to get it out of there before everything grows over it, n the insects get busy. It's also much easier to avoid the plentful thorns.
.
At the store the other day, I actually bought a couple pink Hyacynth plants, which were a dollar bargain. My indoor seedlings are sprouted, n now I just have to keep Mischief from eating the plantlings. I'm growing her a new kitty greens too.
.
Gangway, I'm so ready for spring! Now I just got to get the eyes to stop allergy stinging, n get rid of all the dusties in here too...

Deck View

.

.

Maybe only one or two other times in the past three years I've been awake n on the deck about 9 am in the sunshine. There's my right view in the BG. I was so tired taking this pic, it was pathetic!
.
In order to get the most pressing Little Truck Problem fixed on Day Off I had to stay awake over 22 hours! My poor eyeballs were stinging so bad between allergies, tired, n burnt from work, it's amazing I could even see in that bright light. Well at least it was warming up a bit after the frigid overnight.
.
I had to apologize profusely to my shuttle ride driver because I was so weirded out by being too tired n grouchy. Really I didn't feel good, n couldn't think of much positive stuff to talk about. It's tough to think about anything but the stinging eyes when that's going on- I couldn't wait to go rest, but managed to feel obligated snap a few simply due to the time of day I rarely witness before going inside n ignoring the sunshine again.
.
Finally I got five hours of shut-eye while repairs were taking place. Amazing what a few hours of beauty rest can accomplish. N now Little Truck feels better too. After my busy evening errands, it's time to get more rest before Friday's large work orders do me in again.
More beauty sleep won't hurt.... n the weather is gettin better too!

Inanimate Visitors

Photo by SnaggleTooth April 2009 .
.
.
Here's the greenest color on the hill this week, a high n dry kite. I won't be able to clean up that one, so it's sure to be flapping over head for awhile. Note: when you go fly a kite kids, stick to the beaches n fields away from the woods...
The birds can always use a wind-sock...
.
Different un-natural objects often take up random residence on the wooded hill. Last May there was a ball followed for several (1 2 3 4) posts as it was covered in vegetation..
.
In April '07 there was a stuck swim-tube reported by ESR, which was pretty funny. I'm both amused n embittered by these un-natural artifacts glitching up the scenery across the road.
.

Across town where it's alot warmer lately, I went to do some business at Town Hall today, n found some crocus blooms near the parking lot. After a week of gusty winds, rain, n clouds, the past two days have been mild n sunny, coaxing lawns to begin greening up. Today was a balmy 56F afternoon on the car wash sign. That's amazing when you consider it was 34F at dawn before I went to bed.

I'm not sure what this plant is. It was in that same garden. About eight of them were arranged in a circle around a sleeping shrub.
.
Easter week is upon us already. I wish I had more time for the little ones, but I have to keep working holidays for now. I've been eating too much early candy. The small, snackable sizes are just too easy to use as a pick-me-up.
.
My nine paged state tax forms finally got copied n mailed this week- whew! I made it out to vote in the town election. My nieghbor ran for a committee position, n I still don't know who won. I got quite a bit done, n worked long hours too. What I missed, was sleeping. Each day I had time allotted for it, the young downstairs folks managed to awaken me with loud noise much of the time.
My indoor allergies tend to peak every April, n my eyes are so red, puffy, n burning I'm going thru eyedrops like crazy this week. Time to prepare for tree pollen soon. I usually get severe head-aches. We'll see if the naural healing recommended live-culture yogurt daily eating has any effect on having milder symptoms this time.
..
There's tons of outdoor clean-up awaiting more sunshine warmth. The deck is a leafy mess, n about twenty plant containers need an overhaul. All the little evergreen trees are pot-bound. I managed to plant some seeds inside this week also. The ToDo's is a long list. I'm certainly good at keeping myself active n too busy. I enjoy the plants tho, it's theraputic, n they grow for me.
.
Now if those downstairs people would just go fly a kite more often, I might get progress on a few more hours of needed rest...

Unindentional Rypos

That's alotta bad type-age!
.
The idea is Jannie's. but the mistakes to follow are all mine...
.
In Jannie Funster's miss-keyed posts labeled "Bord on a Wire," she makes a numbered list from one to ten of funny typos saved from recent comments she's made around blogland. "Rears in her eyes" n "Making Hoe loans," come immediately to mind as I think of her amazing finger work...
.
She challenged me to save up my miss-placed word-age, altho most of these puppies were subsequently corrected for publication, they were copied to a text file for later purusal. I found myself re-reading my boo-boos often, n never failing to feel embarrassed n laugh. Therefore, it has been deemed to be an excercise in emotional therapy!
.
Recently, I haven't had much to be happy about, so all spontaneous laugher is priceless.
.
My list isin't numbered, or limited in number. Some are just phrases, (sans puntuation). Parts of the original sentences are missing. Some are from posts, comments, letters, or whatever I was working on when I messed up. Readers of ESR may recognize it. I tend to create new words instead of misplacing real words. My misses bring to my mind Walassy Kandinski's abtract work. Mostly these make me think, "What does that mean?"
.
How embawassing... Hold on, here goes~

Tide Out

.
.
How ironic...
Folks make bailers out of the most available bottle. I hope they didn't rinse the soap out of this in the cove, it would kill off living things with phosphates. Every spring I walk around the hill area collecting bags full of garbage. It usually takes many days. The amount of crap out there is unbelievable! I bet some folks still think the town does it...
