Lilacs

Last week's Lilacs are almost spent for another year already- n Spring pollen is winding down. So glad rain is again washing away the pollen  tonight, as I recover from a busy holiday work-week. Another Sci-Fi book down, a pile to decide which next-

We're expecting hot temps the next few days, n I'll be washing all the old, electric fans. I hope they still work- some are decades old...No AC in here, have never had it. Would just be another thing for  me to wash the dust n mold off of. Never mind I loath closed windows.Usually the Cape is ten degrees cooler than the city anyways- n breezy.

I tried bringing some smelly lilacs in the house, but they made my asthma go crazy really fast, so I had to put it outside anyways. May have had other tree pollen in it, but I tried. Having better luck on the table with the new deck plantings, some Petunias n Impatiens. Now I just have to keep the bugs n critters from eating them.

Still have tons to plant n re-pot waiting on less soggy conditions, more soil, n time. Hopefully I'll get some free food from my efforts too, along with a pleasant deck garden to read in.Much spring house cleaning to get to as well, So many projects, only one me...

Summertime, June, traffic, tourists, crowds, n long store lines here we go-

Memorial

The official beginning of of the Cape's summer tourist season has kicked off with a totally rained out n chilly offering until Monday, when most visiting folks head back to where they ventured from. So lucky for me, the home neighborhood stayed quiet for my long work week-end. Maybe some Veteran parades n ceremonies will get sunshine at least-

Last week the nearby marina was full-up with watercraft already. Maybe the small-craft warnings will be lifted n they'll get out around the bay today finally. This is the only recent USA Flag shot I've taken, also used for these altered pics.

I'm looking forward to warmer weather later this week, plus lower work-orders today finally. At least I wasn't in the current snow-zone seen on the news- whew!

On last weeks walk around the bay, I spotted this unique memorial bench in a restful spot.

Of course I have to take a moment to contemplate n thank all the souls who gave their lives for our freedom here. It's a sacrifice I've never taken for granted.
Hope your Holiday Week-end went well.
Happy Memorial Day

Spring 4

 The Rorschach Test fun continues...
Green, leafy stuff is now all over here, but I'm still playing with early spring pics.
I see a cat, monkey, n a koala. Did I miss something you can spot?

At first I thought I saw a blue frog, n now think it's a terrier dog if you include the browns, a small, light blue boy face, n a somber lion face without mane. Also with the light blue around it I spot a a larger bear head. I seem to gravitate to find animal faces. I do like animals, along with this color n shape combo...

We're finally getting more spring showers n thunder-storms this week, n we were fortunate to escape tornadic activity today. (Warnings were issued in my state). Before crazy Mem Day week-end work orders, I'll settle for some rest n pic playing with that huge shrub- right after I eat some chocolate ice cream.
Almost Summertime...

Just The Cove

Finally last Day Off after many weeks of waiting for a good sunset not obscured with cloud cover, I made it to the bridge in time to see this one. It shows  the leaves coming out on the trees by the roadside on my walk back home. I like the altered version alot. The later sunsets help me get so much more done lately.

Spring 3

I have abundant Spring flowers around my yard. Summer should bring the Tiger Lilies, purple clover, n Trumpet flower vines to look forward to. Until then there are now these:

In the jumbled, viney mess of the side yard behind the Huckleberry tree (now leafing), are these pretty pink flowers among the Vincia.

The light purple Lilies of the Valley are out in abundance too. I never mow them down, n always pick some for my table. Wish I had a Macro setting for a close up of the delicate bells...
My neighbors have the common white ones about ten feet away.

This prolific one has turned into a huge shrub on the other side of the house by the driveway. It may be a Crab-apple or maybe a laurel. I'll have to look it up someday when I have alot of time.(*Maybe someone knows?)
This pic is just a small section of it.
Today rained when I got back from errands. Cool out too- Hoping for warmth n less windy rain to check out the Lilac bush tomorrow. Yes, tree pollen is still killing me now.

A new neighbor of wild Bamboo right across the road in the woods...  A pretty tulip tossed away by someone last year.

I have abundant Spring flowers around my yard. Summer should bring the Tiger Lilies, purple clover, n Trumpet flower vines to look forward to. Until then there are these:

Almost all my neighbors have these bright Phlox. My deck container of Coral-eyed phlox didn't make it this spring. That blizzard did alot of the plants in. I got some veggies going already, n got some cheap bargain annuals today to put in deck containers. A few seeds sprouted in the kitchen to plant out too.
Now I just need to protect them from the hungry critters. Hopefully the frost the past two nights will be it for awhile...

Spring Things 2

I made it thru working massive orders for Mother's Day week-end n I'm all worn out. Summer orders haven't even started yet, n it'll get really crazy I bet. Now that I'm doing the work of two people all by myself,  I'm wondering how I'll find the energy-

Tough to have any energy while taking benedryl every 4 hours. Wish I could sleep all day now it's cool out again- But one more night to go before Day Off again

This wall three houses down my road was just bursting with pretty plants last Day Off. I like it's un-manicured state. The rest of summer there is mostly all green. I have more Spring plant pics to post soon...
Time to rest up-

Dandy

So much has suddenly burst out in the plant department this past week.

Of course one of the most prolific of wild flower weeds has already claimed most of the available real estate...

Hopefully the local drought will soon be broken with some rain  the next few days.Today was supposed to have scattered showers, but they've dried up, so I managed to do a bunch more yard work n mowing I wasn't expecting to be able to.

But at least I won't have to wait for the lawn to get two feet high after the rain. That's a relief, n so much easier. There are spring flowers blooming all over the yard now- more pics in another post soon...

The allergy head-aches are being beaten down with benedryl,  n hopefully the worst tree pollen will soon get knocked down with rainwater.

Apparently, these dandelions can even proliferate in a dry desert of a sand-covered sidewalk crack. Nope, the town has done zero street clean-up so far... It's pretty messy out there.

There, that's better. I mowed down a ton of their little friends already spread out in my yard, too...
