Bluff, Pier

Yep, another big snowstorm hit the Cape yesterday. Everytime I turned on the computer, the house power died just after start-up finished.

I'd planned to post up all these newly processed pics, n wanted to hurry n upload, but never made it that far, start-up after start-up, like 10 times! ! I finally gave up resetting the monitor (unplug, replug) n the vcr (channel scan) every few minutes n just left them off. You would've seen these a day ago-

Yep, there's more snow now than shown here...

I'm so glad I didn't have to work during that nasty storm. I made it to work n back ok tonight. The main roads are good, but the side roads n the work parking lot were very icy. Walking was really skating!

Icy Beach

The temp was way up over 20F this afternoon, so I finally got out for a short walk. This pic of lovely sea ice was taken from the M-cove beach toward the D-Bridge in the BG.

B-cove was covered with ice this week, which got snowed upon this morning. Pic was taken from on top of the D-Bridge (in above shot) of the other side.

This is the opposite side of M-cove from the D-Bridge after I crossed the road again. (Left of the D-bridge in the BG of top shot). I like the stark contrast n seeming black n white coloring , but it is color!

... Now for the cozy, indoor entertainment, I'm watching the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy on vhs again. One day I'll need to replace them on dvd. I've run into some older (20 yr) tapes recently that lost visual. Hope my faves last awhile longer if I play them every now n then.

I'm trying to decide what to call the menacing character under the rainbow sky today- I must be really tired! Why is "Blue Meanie" all I can think of? Must be another case of Beatles On The Brain! Been singing "In my Life" today on the mind music that won't go away. Maybe it's a Blue Hut... Been reading too much Star Wars "New Jedi Order" series again!

How I'd like to just stay home in the relative warmth under the blankets this week-end, perusing pretty old pics... but got another couple of work days to get thru in the freeze.

Shore Shadows

We again interrupt our usual winter scenery with memories of cold sunshine from February 2010.
Today I slept thru all the daylight. Just as well, 'cause it was overcast n snowing when I fell asleep, n has been raining non-stop all day n night. Snow n ice is melting down alot out there, with temps above freezing. .
.
I miss the sun, so thought I'd visit it here today...
What I like most about my shadow portrait from that frigid, clear day at Fav beach is it's so stretched, you can't tell how fat I am wearing my heavy winter coat! That was low tide n I remember walking under the exposed jette to the second beach section for this one.
.



The strong wind n tide current sand ripples were way nifty on the sand that day, n the low bright sun lit them up like magic. The altered images tried from these don't come close to the beauty of the originals, so they'll stay unposted.

There were so many different sand patterns to see that day. It'd be tough to guess the scallop above n this rock were only ten feet apart!
Low tide plus low sunlight can reveal many beautiful things...

Piling n Island

Early last April, I posted a front beach pic, n left this one taken off the village pier buried in the file. I really like the contrast of sky n water textures against the distant point n harbor islands. There's so many different blue tones in it, too.
.
The past few weeks I've barely taken any pics- I've had so much to do in the little daylight I'm awake in. I've been getting more uninterrupted sleep hours, but I still haven't felt caught up n rested enough yet. There always seems to be something important to wake up for n get done in a hurry. This week finally the errands are minimal, so I can afford extra sleep.
.
After seeing the snow storm news in the south-eastern USA tonight, I think they'll be laid up awhile! Apparently there aren't enough snowplows to handle it.
Next it's all heading up north here by Wednesday. At work before I left, everyone was getting ready for driving thru another blizzard. It'd be nice if it all blows over before I have to go back...
.
Looks like I'll have to get errands all done before the snow begins to pile up...

Walking thru the old files I keep finding so many unused sights that just make me feel good. It seems so restful n serene. At the time I only posted what I thought were the best of the batch. One day back last February, I posted this one, yet the file is full of nifty pics.

.

The birds came out good in this pic, but I especially enjoy the colors, how the cam turned the shore snow to a purple-ish hue, n how the low sun is bouncing the light off of it.

.

As I'm sitting here in my nice, warm, armchair with hot water bottles n Mischief, I do remember the biting cold air n wind out there that day. The weather is frigid now, too. I haven't made a winter trip to Fav beach yet this season. Little Truck needs more work soon, n now the higher fuel prices will put a crimp in any unnecessary travels with the increased need to conserve funds.

.

That's okay, as long as I keep finding all these great, dreamy pics to look thru. I'll keep my head in the dream clouds a bit longer...

In the chilly thralls of cold January in the North East USA, I find myself far more entertained with some of the past warm season's stashed archives than with current available material.

With the New Year going by, alot of mental reflection n assessment of life so far tends to take place. My brain waves tho, are lost in dreaming ahead to better times, n fantasy landscapes.
