My Economic Stimulus check seems to be taking an eternity to arrive. I keep assuming it will arrive, even tho experience has taught me that to count the chickens from the eggs before they hatch opens the door to possible dissappointment. I can't help but to anticipate all I'll do with it.
.
The memory card on my camera hit full last week. I deleted some of the lesser important images to make a little space for a few more, but I'm trying for the first time in years NOT to take any shots- So I've let more sights slide by the blogside you'll never see. The card is my proof of image ownership, so I don't want to wipe it clean, I want a new card, (Which is waiting for that check). That's just one of the many items awaiting available funds.
.
Yesterday was one of those off-center days when I would've lost my head if my neck wasn't attaching it. The people from downstairs noisily arrived two hours after I'd fallen asleep, slammed the screen door no fewer than fifty times within a half-hour while getting the porch furniture down there set-up, (Wap!Whapp! Scrrrh- stomp, stomp, repeat), then dissappeared again without a trace (n still haven't returned yet).
.
Work was a challenge because I was so tired n my eyes were really stinging. The allergy drops I use several times a day make my eyes sting sharply before they clear it up. I managed to lose the bottle during "can't see" time I discovered after my break. I still haven't found it. I retraced steps, n searched repeatedly with no luck. It's as though the bottle vanished into thin air from my pocket where I'd thought I'd put it, (n have successfully hundreds of times).
.
After I got home about 4 am, I panicked trying to find my card, cash, n transaction slip from a stop at the ATM on my way home. I went out with the flashlight, conducting a retrace search again. I looked under the outside steps, the grass walkway, the truck, under the seats, n under the truck... Then back up the stairs. But just after I thought I'd have to drive back to search the ground near the ATM, there it was tucked in next to the store-cards after all! I prob wouldn't have lost anything if I'd had enough sleep to begin with.
.
I'm certain my aggrivation due to sleep deprivation will only increase in the next few weeks. The folks downstairs are usually here for several summer weeks during July. Meanwhile, it's the busiest season for work orders, n I'll be doing overtime. That money won't show up until about the same time my Stimulus check is due.
.
I think by then it'll be a bit too late to splurge on a new piston for that door... Lecturing the people on not slamming the door has failed in years past. I hope I have enough patience to last through their visit this time...

Signs 2

At the end of the parking area at my fav residents only beach, there's an off-limits zone for the shy Poppins n other sea birds.
.
The No Dogs sign is up at every beach in town. Alot of folks are PO'd there's no where to jog the sand with your pup.

Sign 1

I have a habit of taking pics of signs around town. I also take graffitfi shots. Here's one of my extensive collection, a combo, taken this week-end near the B-cove.

I especially like the ones like this that tell a story (Like it was ignored... Think the town will empty the barrel before the 4th of July festivities? )

Long Time

I seem to be slowing down on ESR bloggy lately, myself. Mostly I'm just exhausted, n working my butt off on chores in my free time. I've still got tons on the list waiting for more energy, too.
.
Finally, it's happened- I've got a Summer Neighbor! ("R") I've been alone here so long this year, I was beginning to wonder if anyone could afford summer vaca...
.
I used to be really annoyed about the sudden noise, season's past, but this time I actually feel relief some one showed up after all. Besides, they're not the most annoying folks. Just wait until next week-
.
I'm betting the majority of yearly visitors cut-down to the 4th of July for their main fun-time this tourist season...
To drive to the nearby little market , I had to wait for two large droves of teens to get out of the road. School in town has just let out for the year.
.
The day was also the Summer Solstace, the longest Day of the year. It seemed like a long night at work, too...

Most of the local Buzz around here lately concerns the Celtics World Championship victory in Game six against the Lakers by 30+ points. The game was on the 17th n it was the 17th title won. (Last in '86). It's being called "Sweet Seventeen." .

.I wasn't really paying much attention all season until they made the playoffs. Remember back about World Series Baseball time I had the rally thought that I wondered if the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, n Celtics could all win big in the same sports year? Well two within a year of time is pretty decent, I think, with the other two major teams at least doing fairly well. .

Really, Boston teams all doing so well consistently is a recent phenomenon. We've been getting used to waiting for decades to see any action, now New England has become quite the sports hotspot. Being able to talk sports is a prerequisite to living here. .

Then there's depressing sports news that Schill (Mr. Bloody Sock) is going in for shoulder surgery to allieviate pain, n may be all done pitching. I hope he at least gets to coach- There's always Cape League Summer fun here where we see what college kids do with wooden bats just before drafting into the big leagues. .

Anyway, I hope the local sports successes continue to keep us entertained.

Sink

This photo conjures up a Cliche` Hell of thoughts-
Don't sink!
That sinking feeling ...
Sink or swim.
My heart Sank.
Sinking hopes.
Everything but the ...
-Did I miss any?

This week-end free junk has been put all over the place around the village by those too lazy for trips to the "used goods" shops or the dump. Of course the good stuff got scoffed up quickly, like the out-door steel swing-bench across the corner. The old, used, possibly germy, porcelain basin across from m-cove however, may take awhile to disappear...

HorseShoe

Finally, enough free time to walk down the hill n stick my aching toes into the salt water for the first time this year. Thursday was only about 85F degrees, a bit cool compared to earlier in the week. I "Eennie-meenie-moe'd" left to the m-cove. High-tide was at about 5pm, n always the best time at all the beaches here.
.
No one else was on the boulevarde beach. I waded around the end closest to the D-bridge a little while, then I saw this critter shell near some seaweed behind me. It was moving in the small ripples, n at first I thought it was alive. ... But something was missing... (the tail) n then suddenly a small green crab ran out from under it! Guess it makes a great hiding place.
.
Now my lucky horseshoe's making an appearance in my front shell garden for the kids to point at. (There was no meat left on it).
Altho they get fairly large, Horseshoe crabs are harmless creatures when compared to the pincher ones. There's also tons of tiny hermit crabs to see in the cove. Some folks can't stand sea life, so only swim in lakes. I think there's so much more to learn from exploring the ocean. I'm fascinated with shells n rocks also. They all have stories of the past in them.
.
I just washed some of my beach clothes n towel stuff, so next time I can actually go swimming if I want to. Of course, the heat wave has ended, but summer has indeed arrived. Never does seem like it tho, until the toes are submerged.

Beach Bums

Photo by SnaggleTooth June 8 2008
Here's the first summer heat wave already! The water temps are still in the fifties-F tho- It's cooler here at home than everywhere else, but I had to go back to work into the baking heat. That AC is no doubt set at a higher temp than in the past, barely making a dent in the sweat factor.
.
I'm so pooped out this week. Too tired to mow the lawn, to do anything extra. Finally I got a new tire yesterday. After two stressful weeks wasting time without sleeping right, I need some down time. Tendonitis in one of my legs from extra cement pounding isin't helping, either. I wanted to post yesterday, but got so drowsy all of a sudden, I had to pass out.
.
Today before work, I washed the dust off a couple of house fans, a chore that couldn't wait another day. After getting in from work, I'm really glad to have them getting some of the cooler, early morning air in the house after being closed up all night. It's so sticky n humid without them.
Then I'll close up the windows n doors before the Sun heats up the outside again, n get much needed sleep. Maybe by next week, I'll get a few minutes to actually get my toes wet.
.
Don't roast or float away... I just heard about 29 counties in Indiana are flooded.
I wonder if I'll need to put up a tarp awning on the front again this summer- I'll have to if this heat keeps up. (Three days is long enough).
.
Here's to global warming (Boo~).

Twist

2008 is becoming a banner year for storms n twisters. When I googled tornadoes of '08 n found this wikipedia site devoted to listing them, I was astonished to read that over 1300 have already been reported (altho not all confirmed) this year in the US. We are again today under another "current severe weather outbreak." in the middle of the country.

I feel fortunate that I'm in a zone where twisters seldom appear. The closest I've gotten to one here is the water spout I saw in Cape Cod Bay in August 1997. I noticed it from the car window on the way to work that day. Seeing that stuff, even in the distance feels very unsettling. Really, who wants to be away from home n separated from the family members with that possibility looming?

I live in a zone with very few storm cellars. Most homes here have only slabs or crawl spaces, due to the low to the water-table flooding issues. Most of our weather issues have to do with hurricanes heading up the Eastern US coast. Primarily the strong winds n storm tidal surges cause the most problems. We get plenty of warning in advance to prepare for them.

The sudden, random formation of twisters, however, must be very stressful to deal with, especially knowing of the devastation already inflicted upon so many this year by them.
Good luck to those under the storm watch today-

Thought I'd share that site with who ever might want to see the list-

S l o w -

My Blogland, bloggers on blogger I've kept track of, have really slowed down to a crawl. Less seems to be written, less often, with less to report, n with noticeably much less commenting.
.
The Honeymoon is over for many, who are finding themselves in a blog-lull of non-writing, n non-reporting. Having already sounded off on hot-topics-to-you previously boiling over in the brain, n after a few years bloggers are getting tired of announcing standard holiday themes too.
.
After several years of writing so freely to the internet public at large, What more could there be to add, after all? Perhaps some people are just bored with their personal blogs, so onto the next new thing.
.
Without finding comments, I find, it's more difficult to feel rewarded online. Even so, I'm a patient participant, n continue on my blog, despite the slow traffic setbacks. I always did write for myself, n have always journaled.
.
This is a personal, ongoing project I enjoy conducting, no matter the slow pace of recognition. I find it interesting that I'm trying to be a personal blogger, who's remaining somewhat anonymous.
.
Many of the folks who read me now, actually know me personally, or have come to know me though ESR over time. Making so many friends all over the country n planet has been the best part of this now three years long chronicle. It's the why I keep trying, writing to remain connected to others. I write to prove my existence, n to reveal my nature. Writing comments to others posts I continue to do for the interactive give n take of the medium.
.
The checking in factor is appreciated, even when not commenting on the written post. It's good to know someone has taken the time to click you up. So many people are Lurkys lately. Taking rushed minutes to read quickly without logging in for comments.
.
The world of our Rat Race is so rushed thru lately, it's amazing any of us takes minutes out to blog, as it is... on a personal blog, for ourselves, n for our readers. Not for money, not for fame, but for fun, n connectedness. (N because we can)!
.
So Thanks for writing for me to read, n for reading for me to write!
