For the Birds

Been going thru some major crap recently. In short, my village is becoming another "Hoy-dy Toy-dy," over-priced, tourist trap out to grab every last cent from your pockets...

No one can even stop by your house without a visitor parking pass, n parking must be paid by kiosk or sticker to go near the beaches.

Then there's a new Salt Water Fishing Permit which must be paid, n higher length requirements for keeping fish, plus only one Striped Bass allowed to keep per boat.

I witnessed the harbormaster in a boat by the ramp giving out a $200 ticket to folks who'd gone out to fish for the day.

I take major issue with all this, due to the fact this village was taken over by colonists from the Wampanoag natives who had their summer camp here, on the condition that the bluffs n beaches of the village would remain open n free to all the people.

It is no longer possible to be broke n still be able to fish your own food here. If the natives were still camping here, they would be racking up pricey ticket fees.

My seasonal neighbors 15 feet away from my windows to their house on the side yard arrived this past week. They cut down the trees between our houses without permission, despite the trees belonging to this yard. Now they have a great view into my house's windows, n I have no privacy, unless I close up all the windows. which I have done. The south side of the house is no longer shaded from summer heat.

The sheltered place to feed the birds no longer exists. The HuckleBerry tree is gone, along with a young Maple. No more berries for me, or my critter friends anymore.

Stress at work is high, now stress at home is right up there too. Never mind rent increases. I can't afford to live here anymore. At the end of the month I'll be moving across town away from the village, closer to another beach I reported about a few years ago.

I've been in this place almost 30 years now, n I'll be down-sizing to a storage space, n fitting Mischief n me into one room. Hopefully it will be livable until I can save up more funds for a larger place again. Housing prices are crazy this time of year here- I'm lucky to have found this room when I did. This town is tied up tight as a drum before the Fourth of July, which is the yearly business pinnacle.

I have a gazillion things to sort, go thru, n make descisions about. Time to relax for 5 minutes has dried up. I'll be in Ultra-high gear for at least the next 30 days. I'm still not sure about how I'll do internet there until things are ironed out. Meanwhile I'll keep on until I have to dismantle everything here. But don't be surprised if I'm out of it for a bit toward the end of June, -An early apology for getting behind on Summer-Time blogging this year...

Hiya

Going into summer mode on the Cape here, altho it was still pretty cold overnight. I trans-
planted a bunch of stuff yesterday, n really need to clean-up old, battle-weary planters. Plastic just never lasts.

Alot of construction n traffic around recently also. Here comes the Memorial Day big Week-end, second only to the Fourth of July here.
Of course work will be huge order, over-worked time.

Spring clean-up is in full swing, n I really have to sort old papers n stuff. The stuff organizing never ends. If only I had alot of free time n energy to get all these chores done. A few more hours of daylight helps alot.
Just when I get rested enough to do things, I always have to go back to work n get over-tired again... Since I've had this job, it's been so difficult to keep up, but here I go anyhow.

Walking the past few weeks has revealed many green n blossoming sights to savor. Here's a neighbor's Hyacinth in the middle of a lawn. None of mine ever made it to bloom a second year, so I won't criticize. The critters keep eating the deck bulbs I think.

The new cam is doing a good job wth flowers I think. This is a crop from the about photo.
Hope everyone gets to enjoy the long Memorial Day week-end. For me it will be very long work-hours.

" Ted, you think you're so cute in that sombrero dressed up for Cinco de Mayo."

"I need more tequila to go with those hot buffallo wings. Whew, Look out!"

"I almost didn't see you over there hiding behind That fire-y Jackolope display. Very hot n evil-looking!"

"BaWa-Ha-Ha-HA!"

"Careful, don't get burned-"

"By this time tomorrow we'll be at the packed arena getting ready for the big show."

They'll probably look like a tiny dot from here, don't ya think?"

"Sorry, these are the best seats I could get..."

Long Road to Summa

There's an old. Sci-Fi show theme song I keep singing to myself because it makes me feel better when it seems my actual life is still getting nowhere without an end in sight,

It's from "Star Trek: Enterprise,"  a tv show starring Scott Bakula. Re-runs used to air Sunday night about 3am, n I haven't seen it since a trekkie friend gave me some old VHS tapes he made of it way back. The tapes are disintegrating n can't be played anymore now.

Last night after work I felt very discouraged, but was so tired I couldn't recall the song when it had been awhile since I had tried to. Today after sleeping it finally sprang to mind again.

The memory key is: I must remember the openning line to recall the tune.

"It's been a long road..."

Sorry I won't post a video on my blog- If you want to hear it click  a free online episode.
I think the song is the best part of that show-
Here's the lyrics I like to sing:

It's been a long road.
Getting from there to here.
It's been a long time,
But my time is finally here.
I can see my dreams come alive at last,
I can touch the sky.
They're not gonna hold me down no more,
Oh no- they're not gonna change my mind.

"Cause I've got Faith
of the heart-
I know where my heart will take me.
I've got Faith
to believe
I can do anything
I've got friends
of the soul.
No one's gonna bend or break me-
I can reach
Any star.
I've got faith
I've got fai,- a-aith
Faith of the heart

(There- I feel better now, n  if I forget again I can look here. Pic from walk last week)

Spring Reflection

So much to do n so little free time. Work has been crazy orders the past few weeks. They have been hiring new folks n torturing me with keeping up while newbies don't do their share yet. It's tough finding any unhurried time recently.

Finally the warmth is settling in, enabling me to ditch the heavy coat in favor of a hoodie. Plants are sprouting fast, n the green is filling in again.

Last Day Off I made it for a walk n took pics at the bridge, beach, n pier. Still haven't processed most yet. More pics are coming out better at least.

Catch-up time for all the yard n plant work, plus cleaning, paying bills, n other back-log. There's so much on the list I don't know which end is up!

Mischief wants to go out more n keeps waking me up too early. So I missed 2 more hours of sleep planned today, n have to take benedryl which gets me tired on top of that.
I wish I could afford to just relax, but I'm getting back on the crazy ride...

This Canadian Goose looks to be touring the budding Forcynthias on his way under the bridge to the B-cove. Finally a goose pic that's more than a dark silhouette using the new cam. The past few sunset trips to the bridge have been cloudy, n not as colorful.
More village pics on the way soon.
