Rushing About

April showers have been doing an encore all week long, n the spring flowers are doing a good job of filling in the scenery with color.

None of these pics are my flowers, n I miss all the perennials I had at the old place, especially the purple Lilies of the Valley. I tried to bring some here in a pot, but they didn't make it through last year. I'm trying to get seedlings in my room big enough to move out doors without buying some already started. No seeds I planted outside are up at all yet.

I saw alot of local wild turkeys around this week, n hope they don't eat my plants before I can cover it. Also saw some huge slugs in the garden already. They love the rain. I'm going to try beer baits in the strawberry patch this year. They did a number on the fruit last year.

Don't know why I'm still motivated to work on the plants. It's tough to be gone at work so much time n try to keep up with it. Really tho, I like the free food, being outdoors, n enjoy the beauty. Just wish I could get the critters not to mess with it. Maybe I should've been a farmer. But then the slugs n caterpillars would make me cry n lose money... I like when it starts producing n how it feels when you can't eat it all n start giving it away.

Work is going crazy with folks calling out all the time, n I have been getting a sore neck since returning last week. No idea why, because I'm doing it all the same. Maybe I should get new pillows. Sleep is definitely going to be lost more already.

Yep, I'm right back to feeling rushed around in my free time again. Several birthdays to get ready for have me cramming in extra errands n getting up n out earlier. There are folks to visit over the week-end, n expected family visitors from out of state to make time for all the upcoming month.

I'm getting tired just thinking about all I'll be doing, better go n rest up after my walk home.

Oh yay, the sun just came out....

Surprises

A couple of odd things happened recently, I'd never expect.

I finally got a new Dollar Tree dec last week to replace the autumn leaves visible in my window from the front porch, I went out to see how the new thing looked from there n noticed a glob of drippy, running goo on the inside center of the window glass obscuring the view.

I hadn't sprayed anything there for insects or anything, n have plants to water there. But I hadn't seen it earlier due to a bin on a shelf infront of it. The mess on the glass kind of looked as if it were lumpy, clear bird poo, n ran all the way down to the windowsill. I got out some vinegar n paper towel to clean the sticky stuff, when it finally occurred to me what it was.

The first winter after I moved here, I put some snowflakes on the windows. It had to be one of those silicone, gummy, self-stick, peel-off, clear ones, all disintegrated!

I guess it had bio-degraded...?

Last week, I had time to walk on the village beach n feed the gulls. I brought some old bread from work with me n had the camera ready. But as I was going from the beach house building to the place I saw gulls by the water's edge, Another person walked by me on what had been an empty beach when I'd arrived.

Of course I said "Hi," n the young probably late 20-something guy started asking me questions. He was clearly a mentally challenged person, perhaps with a mild disability to be out here unsupervised.

He asked me If I liked sports, n which sport the best, so I answered about Baseball n how good the Patriots have been recently. Then he asked me if I watched fighting, or wrestling, or was interested in martial arts with kick-boxing tournaments.

So I said I don't watch fighting much, n no, I don't have a favorite fighter.Then he asked who in my family I'd want to fight, older or younger, n would I want to hit them with their stomach open or closed, n just got my brain in a knot, not wanting to relay that I'd never do that n didn't want to talk about that.

Plus I had limited time left. So I stopped answering him, explained that I wanted to feed the gulls, n had just waited over a year to do this, excuse me please -

So I turned around, ignoring him, n started with the gulls n camera.

After a few minutes I saw he had continued to the bluff stairs.

All I could think of after that was, "Whose kid was that? n What would they think about so much gung ho fighting talk coming out of him? Pumping up strangers to go beat the heck out of someone... a very strange conversation that was!"

For the first time in years I had take-out Chinese food from a near by place last week. I've been opening extra fortune cookies every few days. (I still have one left).

Monday my fortune cookie read :

"Financial hardship in your life is coming to an end"

So I laminated that little piece of paper using wide packing tape, n put it up where I have to see n read it often. The best fortune ever!

Flying

My week of vaca time is flying by.

So much to do,
It's so little free time.

I'll have to get work stuff back together soon.

Sleep got in first, n I'm almost wide awake in the mornings now.

Still luxuriating in not being in a rush all the time. Got tons of errands done. Got the state taxes done, n copied the sheets here today.

Had time to start digging dirt thru the garden mess a bit, n started some seeds in the window area.

Once I'm working again it will be tough to keep up with it.

Just beginning to dig thru the corners of my room, n finally dusted the guitar case off so I'm not too allergic to it.

Still have stuff to search for in the paperwork pile. Maybe get to it tonight.

Spring launched in earnest this week, all the green stuff is growing like weeds. Getting Forsythia head-aches again, trees are budding slightly.

A friend gave me Star Wars
"Rogue One" to watch yesterday. Will finish watching it tonight. Don't have an opinion formed yet. Got a few more films I haven't seen yet to watch.
It's been a treat to see more prime time shows all week.

You can almost guess what it is from this version.

I'm about to get lyrics for the Irving Berlin Tune in the Star Trek "Nemesis" film so I don't forget them. Love the brass in there.

I went n walked around the old village beach on errands the other day. I fed the gulls n got a a few pics, Most more blurry than this one.

Off I go to mail that form!
