Ice Dancing 101

Whoop-

I almost wiped out walking on ice three times today... Twice while shoveling last night's 4 inches off the driveway, n once outside a store.
I've never recovered from slips so well before. My ears have been not as ear-achy as years past, I think. There's definitely alot of ice out there in the "Arctic run amok zone..."

Years ago I sold some good ice skates for $10, n now I wish I hadn't. I shouldn't complain, really. I got to go two days this week without shoveling. It's just that there's no getting down to the driveway dirt now with the thick ice from slushy rain  which then froze under everything new that fell.

Boston has racked up a record 101 inches of snow this winter so far! 6 more inches will make the all-time snowiest year record from the 1800's. Down on the Cape we've had more snow than them, but\I'm not sure about the town numbers here.
Sometimes on the way home from work in the early am, I listen to the "Coast to Coast " radio broadcast show that sometimes features strange subjects n theories. I learned one I hadn't known about yet. This one ties in with the weird weather we've been experiencing here  recently.

There's some smart folks who believe use of  "HAARP" stations (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) used to effect the ionosphere are messing with the jet streams usual patterns. Attempts by scientists to manipulate the weather by removing Ionosphere particles n putting artificial "Chem-trails" to cloud-cover the Pacific ocean, may also be controlled by USA governmental defense agencies for surveillance purposes.

There may be some mad scientists using our tax-dollars to fund secret operations the side effects of which is causing our current weather blight!

So in case they are paying attention to this, All I have to say is: "Please shut the darn thing off! "
According to Wikipedia
"... HAARP has been blamed for triggering catastrophes such as floods, droughts, hurricanes, thunderstorms, earthquakes in Iran, Pakistan, Haiti, Turkey, Greece and the Philippines, major power outages, the downing of TWA Flight 800, Gulf War syndrome, and chronic fatigue syndrome..."

I've been very tired too...

At least two people I know this week pronounced they are planning a move to Florida. We are all going broke paying for the fuel, heat, n energy. School will be on into July to make up days. If only missed work n transportation woes could be made up to.

On the bright side, who ever built this century old house did something right- I haven't had any big problems like some folks.

- There have been alot of building problems going around. This week a shovel-it guy fell through a roof skylight, n another got buried by a roof-snow avalanche.

I made it out to the bridge today-  finally it was over 20 F degrees, n I climbed on a 3 foot snow plow heap to get some pics. You'll be seeing more of them that came out ok later...

Winter Ice Ripples

After a very long week of getting used to snow-scapes at n above (from shoveling) eye-level, today the snow pack finally melted off of road surfaces, n shrunk down about a foot n one half since last night. I didn't really get alot of good pics, due to being so busy shoveling twice per day n getting to work. I thought what I was seeing at 3 am would make good height pics, but it had settled by the time I got back outside to head to errands. After that I spent 2 hours at the deck drift again.

No joke, we've racked up about 6 feet of snow here since the last week of January! Around the area over 70 roofs have collapsed due to the snow weight, mostly flat-roof businesses. I decided tho it will cost alot, to turn up the heat to get more melted off the house. It's not really bad except the flatter sections of the shed n part of the downstairs, n I still haven't shoveled for access over there in the back... It's all I can do to keep one parking spot clear in the driveway, n you guessed it, More snow for Thurs n the week-end again!

Here's a pic of the boat ramp beach from after the first Blizzard. When I had no time yesterday after it snowed on that ice again, It was a huge, white field all the way across the cove channel, Today it was re-melted in the middle again.

I'm happy to be able to still shovel, n do anything else!

(oooo- I forgot to mention the $2 Ghiredelli Dark-Strawberry squares I scored-SO yummy!)

Plush

In the NorthEast USA we're all thrilled to schedule another big blizzard storm n a foot more of snow just in time to cancel everything for St Valentine's Day.

I get the feeling work won't cancel tho, n I may have to get there early or maybe cancel myself...Luckily I'm not dressing up or eating out anywhere.

I Splurged at the Dollar Tree to get myself a Rose Plushy for the table. It's large, fluffy, n won't even wilt, or die. Yes it was $1!
Wonder If I'll get to the half-off chocolate sale in tome for dark chocolate truffles...

Hope your Val Day is less snowy than mine-

Loaded Deck

You may have heard about the NorthEast USA's record snowfall totals from the past few days.
I'm so tired of shoveling before work, after work, plus sore from work, it's pathetic.

Of course, work stayed open all week, while the local schools are still all closed because of safety concerns. Budgets are blown on snow removal. A person I talked to said his town sent out a RoBo call declaring to be careful on roads due to his town being all out of salt!

I'm just using free sand, some from the road cleaned up last spring, some from the beach which naturally comes with salt.

It seems like a different world out there, with all the real estate four feet high, n higher banks where plowed n shoveled, while everyone walks along trenches that are now roads.

Walking to the edge of the water now is not practical, n there are zero tracks out there in the hip-deep expanse, since mine from the first big storm have been filled in n covered over.

There's so much I need to make progress on, but I'll be using this week's Days Off to recoup. I just hope I get to go a day or two without shoveling...

My deck was up to the windows too. At least it hides the flower pot mess I should have cleaned before it snowed
That was the deck after the first storm, now it needs to be shoveled again!

On the Rocks

Photo by SnaggleTooth after Blizzard of 2015

There was so much snow around Beantown the past week, I think it affected my ISP service because it wasn't working all week since my last post.

We had storm 1, Blizzard of 2015 n that isin't all shoveled yet, then Storm 2, Sunday night to Monday, which began rain, then flash froze n snowed over the ice. I looked like a short Yeti when I got to work all plastered with blown snow.

Once again I'd like to TG for LL Bean, the gloves, the coat, n most of all the awesome boots that have saved my butt this week...

Then there are many layered flannel shirts, multi-scarves, n a wonderful double-thick hat I cover again with a hoodie hood, before putting on the overcoat.

My cold congestion is finally easing up n I'm hoping to eat some good food after getting to the store this week.

I heard only a little of the Super Bowl on the radio while working Sunday, n was one of the few who knew the Pats won right away- Just amazing turn-about at the end of the game. I just finished watching the parade on local TV. I'm glad I finally got allowed back online to post. 20 minutes for the one pic here, so more will wait.

Now off to errands-
