The Band Played Snow

Yes folks, we're currently conducting Blizz IV here on the Cape. It's sounding very windy out there, n the view out the window by the streetlamp reveals choppy waters n billowing tiny white pellets flying sideways...

I've just been on one of those unexpected, involuntary vacations off the internet all week, so I'm way off the reading schedule.
That's okay, I needed more rest so I could get up way earlier for early work before this storm Wednesday a.m..
Winter wanted to toss in a "last  (Please) Harrah!" to remind us who is boss again.

N now, Back to the violin section before the next shoveling cadence...

It's Hiding!

"Where is Spring?" so many people asked me all day...

"We 're gonna shoot that Groundhog liar-" my stock answer.

We're due for a thimble drop of 50 F degrees unfrozen weather Thursday, n it's Day Off! I hope I get out to the Post Office n stroll the beach without wearing 7 layers of fabric.

There's so much clean-up to tackle here, I just want to forget about... Tho the laundry has to get done, the rest may wait a bit.

I hope the little peek of Spring becomes braver n sticks around more, instead of teasing me n going icy again.

I don't know how it happened.... How the price of the traditional, large Irish family feast for St Pattie's Day ended up costing so much. What used to be the cheapest winter cut of salt-preserved beef has become more expensive than Thanksgiving Turkey, almost $5 per pound! Of course all the store here had were over $15 for a corned beef, which priced me out of the boiled dinner meal I wanted this week. Well, at least cabbage finally went down to .59 cents per pound, so I have that.

I saw the group, "Well Strung" on a late night re-run of "Today" early this am. They integrated a classical Mozart score with a Kelly Clarkson song, n sing harmony in the "mash-up." The video is Here if you're interested. I like the different styles together.  I always enjoy violins, violas, n cellos. I should practice mine more, wonder if the hands are up to it yet...

Ides of March

What to blog, what to blog,
Keying in some creamy fog.

If only fun stuff would spring to mind,
Instead of heavy bummers I'm blind...

Weather, news- not good to choose,
Ice, blown buildings, Malaysia Air lose-

I'll read blogs, find peace of mind,
Many Blog buddies so good n kind-

Try not to dwell on the horrible things,
But the good that life in this world still brings...

Sun Fun

Calm Ogre holding lamb's head, in a
thought-cloud over a short, beaver-toothed, cool Jamaican in a field... Maybe-
So silly!

A moored motor-boat with the glare of the setting sun behind it, setting over the M-cove seen thru the road-side, summer vegetation...
Serene, never used, newly altered.

So peaceful, spacious, n warm to behold. Taken just before a pic inspiring one of ESR's favorite poems, "Where the Water Meets the Sky". also good cold day, mood improving therapy to revisit.
There, I feel better now...

See Bird

What a weird looking thing this came out to be! I see an angry sea gull facing forward, submerged to the neck. When we refer to "Seagulls" in this neck of the Cape, folks here are talking about tourists, usually. Travel to the tropics is up, what a surprise- The Bahamas are looking real good from New England about now.

I'll need alot more sunset therapy to get thru this week of polar doldrums... it is SO COLD yet again.

Photo by SnaggleTooth 2011There's so much I have to get done, but feel so little motivation under these conditions. I'm very itching to jack up the heat, but can't run up the electric bill which is already sky high. So here I am in my customary 3-layers of house clothes while cooking n washing laundry to keep warm.

Maybe next week will be better for walking. I decided to skip the Post Office until it's above 25F. Guess movies n book reading are on the docket until I can build up more Day Off steam... I boiled chicken soup for hours which did warm me up n tasted really good.

Guess it's not such a big waste to rest up before really getting into projects, I'm so run down. Lately I've been feeling more like the seagull I found than the peaceful reflections. I need to recharge-
Back to more hot water bottles, tea, n blankets.
