It's Hiding!

"Where is Spring?" so many people asked me all day...

"We 're gonna shoot that Groundhog liar-" my stock answer.

We're due for a thimble drop of 50 F degrees unfrozen weather Thursday, n it's Day Off! I hope I get out to the Post Office n stroll the beach without wearing 7 layers of fabric.

There's so much clean-up to tackle here, I just want to forget about... Tho the laundry has to get done, the rest may wait a bit.

I hope the little peek of Spring becomes braver n sticks around more, instead of teasing me n going icy again.

I don't know how it happened.... How the price of the traditional, large Irish family feast for St Pattie's Day ended up costing so much. What used to be the cheapest winter cut of salt-preserved beef has become more expensive than Thanksgiving Turkey, almost $5 per pound! Of course all the store here had were over $15 for a corned beef, which priced me out of the boiled dinner meal I wanted this week. Well, at least cabbage finally went down to .59 cents per pound, so I have that.

I saw the group, "Well Strung" on a late night re-run of "Today" early this am. They integrated a classical Mozart score with a Kelly Clarkson song, n sing harmony in the "mash-up." The video is Here if you're interested. I like the different styles together.  I always enjoy violins, violas, n cellos. I should practice mine more, wonder if the hands are up to it yet...

I am married to someone part Irish, but he doesn't drink and we have never celebrated the holiday with a good Irish meal. I just realized that saved me a little money each year.

beef is just expensive because the drought screwed up the corn which feeds the beef. I hate that it's so expensive

It's horrid when you get a day off and it's full of chores. Hope you had a bit of fun too. I didn't even realise it was St Patrick's Day!

Great photos, as usual. Like the fangs on the bottom one.

Tabor, Even last year I got corned beef for $5 n cabbage for .25 cents. This year the irish need to ne rich! I'm not Irish at all, burt my Dad loved that meal, so I try to get it once per year.

MB, Apparently the salt is over-priced too- never mind the holiday driven pricing-

Jannie, Bologna at Walmart is $2! Cabbage tastes best cooked in the Corned Beef brine I think. Cabbage was 1.49 per pound last week. I always love having less laundry to do in the warmth! Thanks

One of the advantages of eating three meals a week at the Senior Center. The meal is $3.50 and consists of soup or salad, entree, dessert, coffee, tea or water. Often they will sell left overs for $1 and I can eat another day, so that makes it much easier to feed one person.

I could live on cabbage but don't know if it would make me very much fun to be around. lol

We used to go to an Irish feast...but I can't recall the cost now. The place that hosted it, stopped doing it a few years ago. It was always such a fun time.

Snow continues here. Spring is truly absent so far! I hope she comes soon. We need some warmth and color again.

First of all, I could stare at that last picture for ages and see things in it. It's really cool. I like the colors, the texture and how it visually opens, narrows and opens.

Okay, I must admit I'm not a big fan of classical music, but I loved the video. It makes you wonder what Mozart might say if he traveled back in time to listen to Well Sprung. Personally, I think he'd find it fascinating how they combined a song with the classical music:~)

I loved your comment at Ellis's recent post(desk49). I'm pleased he's writing again:~)

Sara, Thanks for visiting ESR comments! Sometimes I like the altered images so much, even tho they are tough to define in natural terms, n are so unexpected from the original source photo. Yep, that stuffy Mozart stuff- sounds awesome when the other tune is added. I hope they find more tune connections that sound so cool-
As a writer I think poor Mo would think his motif intent was breached, but it would run thru his brain n he'd eventually admit it's catchy. Thanks, yay fun with Ellis!
