I had occasion to travel to northern Maine for a couple of days to say good-bye to one of my favorite people. These Meese n bears were located at the bigger travel stops along the way. They are huge n pose alot better than the real ones.
Having an allergy attack also, the eyes sting- So I'm taking a benedryl rest recovery day now before returning to the grind.

Oh my - sounds like a sad occasion, but at least you got to see some nice scenery along the way. Love those animal displays.
This post made me remember a cartoon line, "I hate you meeces to pieces!" I had to look it up - it was a cartoon with two mice - Pixie and Dixie and a cat named Mr. Jinks. Funny - I don't remember the cartoon so much as just that line.
Someone's got to say it: "I (love) these meeces to pieces." Though Lynn's research is the correct quote.
There was a large life-size chocolate moose in one of the candy stores, but we were afraid the smell would cause us to buy way too much candy, so we did not visit it.
Lynn, I remember seeing the cartoon, n the line! About the same time as Felix the cat was on tv. The line refered to mice tho. I used to watch alot of Tom n Jerry, plus Bugs Bunny had alot of chase scenes too. Todays cartoons just do not compare...
Gran Annie, it's the first trip up there I found something good besides caffeine at the rest stops! You can see how huge they are next to the picnic table folks.
Tabor, Fake Moose are easier to deal with than the real ones- sometimes they are all over the lakes up here. There's even "Moose Crossing" signs along the turnpike.
Wow that's a hell of a lot of driving! How do you not fall asleep at the wheel??
The animal displays are fun! Love them! I hope you got some sleep!
I'm not sure what surprises me more, you driving 830 miles in two days (insanity at its absolute best), or no one not noticing that you were gone.
OMG -- you DRANK COFFEE!?!?!??!? Holy cow. I mean moose. That happened to me 4 years ago in Canada, I'd previously been drinking one cup of decaf a day, then bang -- I had some REAL coffee, and here I am -- little morning addict me. But... there could be much worse addictions. Like BUYING on eBay -- TG I'm addicted these days to SELLING there!! :) :)
I LOVE Maine! Mom and Dad are there right now. i wonder if you saw them and vice versa. There were not far from Augusta. Dad and 5 women in a van, oy! :) :)
That was nice of you to say good-bye to someone special. Sometimes we have to do that, eh? A time to be born , a time to die. And everything so perfect under heaven...

LLcoolJ, I was nervous about not wrecking the spiffy rental car, n drinking all that usually absent caffiene kept me wired- I slept for a day when I got back. Had too!
G, The timing was tricky to get back with the car return before noon on Sat or pay two more days until Monday. Plus I had to work Thurs night. Be there by Fri pm. I actually made it a couple hours early. Yep, crazy=
JanF, Coffee really affects me, Then I have a bad head-ache after, on my rest day. I did this the last two quick trips I had to take after working all night also.
I went several hours north of Augusta, near Baxter State Park. (In sight of Mt Katadin). Wow, everyone is going to Maine! Tabor was too-
