Has it Really been 50 years
since the Kennedy Assassination?
Yikes, I remember that day...

So many footsteps I've walked since then...
Much innocence left behind.
Have we gotten very far?

The Media mentions shootings
Almost every week these days-
Big guys n little victims too

Lost in sands of violence
Spiraling ever downward
Crazy killers Stealing lives.

Changing effects those would've had
On other lives n loves.
Casting the world into darkness

How different this place could be
Had Kennedy not been taken early,
We will never know -

But I'll always wonder
With a bitter chill,
How to reconcile Hope's escape

It let me in the editor!

I found Kennedy a good president...I do not know if he would have made a great President. He certainly had the ability to inspire with words which is something leaders should have. This President needs to work on that more.

The only thing constant is change. It's crazy, isn't it? How far society can go in such a short time?

The footprints are beautiful and poignant. Yes - a sad day and we are all different because of it.

Tabor, I feel the same type of lost talent from JK as I do about John Lennon n Micheal Jackson Because of the lost treasures they would have produced if still living.

Crystal C, Welcome to ESR comments! I think our culture has become far too accepting of violence.

Lynn, Thanks. I think that was the first time TV made folks feel a personal tragedy `en masse.

It's hard to watch the news.

Yes, I also think about what more song we would have heard from folks like Harry Chapin, Jim Croce, Jimi Hendrix and so many more who died too darned young for my liking, you speaking of 2 artists in your words to Tabor.

Yes, good question about President Kennedy maybe having been able to change a societal tide. We'll never know, but interesting to ponder. All I can do is create non-violence in my own life, where it will hopefully reverberate outward.

Beautiful photo! Be nice to kayak around on.

Jannie, I've always been unable to ignore the news. I [lay several Him Croce tunes, learned when I was a teen. I always think Life is tough enough without killing folks on purpose. Thanks

YesI am not for the killing humans wilfully. Maybe one day the wars will be no more, let's hope anyway. I don't know why people have to get so angry they think taking lives is the answer.

Anyway, my dear, just checking in with my favorite bloggers tonight, as I made my sales quota for today, and treating myself to a cup of tea and your blog. Wish I had one of those pumpkin squares, tho you spoke of in your most recent post. :) Luckily, I am not allergic to apples as I just read Joey is, so I think I'll munch one of those.

tata!

Jannie, If those nasty killing folks just thought of eating their fave desert again instead of wanting to die n take victims with them, maybe it wouldn't happen... I want more pumpkin bars! Poor Joe, don't know how I'd eat sausages without applesauce!
