Icy Pond
.
After rushing out to a dump run before 4pm on last Day Off, I took the opportunity to meander on the way back past the Mill Pond on the west end of town just before all the daylight retired.
.
It's been really cold here, alright- Look at the glossy ice forming. I think the ice has a nifty effect on the reflection quality. I wouldn't try to walk across it tho!
.
Maybe after the single digit temps out there now the ice'll get thicker, but this isin't a good skating zone, with a dam on the other side.
.
I'm pretty chilly- can't wait to get under the warm blankets today! BbrrhH! TG for old jelly jars full of hot kettle water in a sock- or I'd feel frozen too! Now I just have to brave a shower before beddy-bye, but the cold has me procrastinating.
.
I didn't think all the other versions I did of it came out as well as this one, which also highlights the ice.
.
Have a lovely week-end while I'm working...

The mauve light in the photograph is gorgeous. Just looking at that shot makes me shiver, Snaggle. I'm glad you took the time to capture that photo.
We're getting more snow this morning. It's low winds, too, for a change so it's looking extra pretty right now (until I have to get out and drive in it - lol).
no skating zone what the luck.
get warm and dream of deep think ice to play on. BRRRRRRRRR
That is so beautiful - I can just imagine how cold it is. Sorry you have to work, Snaggle.
Talon, thanks, the color in that pic was amazingly opposite the sunset side, n taken mere seconds before twilight. I had to walk in the cold to get pics too! Guess your chill is deeper, n we haven't had the promised flurries here yet.
Snow is always better when ya get to stay home!
Ellis, I've been telling everyone at work that it's icicle time again! They all agreed too! (We feel like iciles) part of work's heat doesn't work, even tho they "Fixed it" Ahem, this week-
Lynn, thanks- I wasn't out there long, but managed to find beauty with the few minutes of light left. I used to visit there alot when I lived not far from there 30 years ago. I really want free week-ends back one of these days!
Love the photo...
Your picture looks like a heavenly skating rink. We're getting the cold but not the snow or ice yet.
I believe you should have said "a run to the refuse center" rather than a "dump run":)
ha, it's 43 here and I'm freezing, seriously I don't know how y'all do it
Opaque, Thanks
Gran Annie, I heard it was very chilly out west. You really don't want ice-
I've always said dump! Sorry it's not as classy sounding... Folks here just use that term.
Paige, Only 43? that's summer! I wear two or more layers of long-johns, pants, shirts, n socks. I like to have different size shirts so I can layer smaller under larger. There's always flannel to put on top! Heat also helps.
I read "the cod has me procrastinating" in that last paragraph! Even with my reading glasses on.
Down by the olde mill (stream) pond where I first met yoooo.
:)
Jim hates barbershop singing. And beets. And Van Morrison's voice. But Jim is an awesome guy overall.
Jannie is not a fan of most rap. Or zuchhini. Or Gino Vanelli's voice.
TG we are all unique, what a boring world it would be indeed.
:)
xoxoxo
JanF, Hmmm, maybe you need stronger specs! Still says cold here...
The Mill pond freezes faster due to being fresh water as opposed to salt. There's no Cod in there tho-
I like harmony singing, like in folk n Bluegrass, n do it ok- like in Everly Bros tunes is easy!
I only dislike some high-pitched opera n the sound coming from downstairs pounding thru the floor...
yep Unique is best!
I heard parts of TX got pretty cold, n FL too!
