Halfway Over

On the last week of July here in Summer Tourist Season, n I'm hoping the aggravation is half over.

The humid heat, plus the work difficulties are really tiring me out in my free time. Everyone at work is so overtired it is pathetic. I'm one of the lucky folks insisting on getting both my Days Off.
I will blink n the extra work bucks will be gone on bills anyhow.

I haven't made it out to the garden to water as often as I should in the heat, n the strawberries n pea plants quickly dried up after I did the first pickings. Past years here the yield kept going on those longer.

At least re-planting in the early-disappeared bean plants spaces has paid off in several pounds of green beans for a few weeks at least, one thing I won't be compelled to buy at the market.

I've squeezed in a few toe-dipping trips before errands but really there is no time to sit n relax. I have yet to jump all the way in this year, because  need to go to the store after, n my long hair will look messed up. I like getting to rinse it out after real swimming.

I never got to a beach this week, as heavy rains were forecast, but here we got nothing while floods n tornadoes happened in the western part of the state. I still needed to water the garden.

Blogland has gotten very quiet!
At least I can keep up with it, but FB seems hopeless with  the reading. Both of my grown daughters are posting Monarch butterfly caterpillars in habitats , Chrysalis,  n release stages again this summer. They got many folks interested in doing that too.
All I'm finding are beetles on the milkweed i have here. This is also the first year with no problems of caterpillars eating my Petunias out front.

Yesterday, I saw  the first, lone, honey bee with loaded legs flying by me while out on the porch! Finally! I'm glad to see proof  there must be a hive nearby.

I have seen some hummingbirds around, n they will be eating the Rose of Sharon out back for the rest of the summer. I will try to get more rest n toe-dipping in before the season is over. I will try not to dwell on lost garden booty n enjoy what I can get.

Hope you get to enjoy the fruits of your labors n free time this season....

You know - it's only midsummer and my plants aren't doing well in the heat either. You're in good company!

Lynn, I like it when the garden runs on auto-pilot better! I only got 1 lily, n my impatiens aren't blooming. Several plants out front are annuals, but halted blooming. The garden is full of weeds n few veggie plants are being generous. Beans, after 4 packets are giving me the most. 3 tomatoes picked so far are tiny! Sorry to hear yours aren't bountiful this year either. Lets hope the perk-up better when the heat wanes for Gall.
