Cool or Warm?

"Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has in life, but the obstacles which he has overcome."
- Booker T. Washington
...
Today Deval Patrick was sworn into the Governor's office. Good Luck to him, my expectations of the quality of his work are very high...His success may help make mine, also...
...
A fellow blogger asked us this week- "Do you feel Lucky?" I remarked I did feel lucky to have made it through my life to this point. I've been through much trouble to be here right now. I don't feel lucky enough to win a high-stakes poker game, tho...
...
Another wrote of his success this past year, n I commented about how I feel successful without having attained the monetary award yet. See, I still expect I'll get the cash at some point! When the economy will finally sustain for me more than my living expenses, I suspect to be in for a hugh, rolling snow-ball effect.
...
Of course, some one has to make that first ball that'll roll down the mountainside to start it off on the right pathway- I have to get that ball just right, no matter how many tries it takes. Then the conditions down the way have to prevent it from busting up before it reaches the size it needs to be to become part of the total snowman.
...
Once you have the large, stable base, you can build the middle, n once that is secure you can get the head on, then it's time to tweak all the peripheral details.
...
We're experiencing one of the warmest winter seasons ever thus far here. It's way too warm for business success n snowballs. Poor Frosty never got built. It seems all my recent snowballs keep melting before they're formed or allowed to grow.
...
But when I consider I'm well able to make a snowball, were there snow to make one, I do feel Lucky. I still have my mind, my hands, my talent, n the motovation. I'm confident I'll be successful measured with dollars as wished upon me by my dear friends. The part in question is:
When will conditions become friendly enough to allow me my snowball making?
...
Then I'd prefer to become luckier n more successful, to feel that entire effect at once.
Where's the snow?

Snag - Blame Colorado, I think they cornered the market on the white stuff this year.

I know how you feel when you're talking about luck. As someone who's been living on Ramon noodles, I speak from first hand experience. Like you I'm hoping that all this struggle leads somewhere, and hopefully it's soon.

But that's kind of the way it is for people like us. We deal in struggles and survive to live another day.

And as bad as it seems sometimes, at least we can find grace in knowing that we still have a roof over our heads; even if we have to live at a bare bones version of what we used to think was enough.

Peace & Hugs,

Neo, I hear Sacramento CA is having over a foot as I write... We're raining again! Record heat, n near 70 F expected tomorrow!

Tip- rice is great cause you can add scraps of any meat, or meat juice, n chopped veggies to still get the nutrients... Like mine with onions, cerery, n garlic- goes a very long way- (n creative fun, too)! I got tons of rice from friends who went to the food pantry last week-

I don't hope this leads somewhere good- I KNOW IT WILL! I'm not as negative as folks think I am... Although I'm barely holding this roof up- housing costs are outa control in this state, n everywhere-

Regular folks need a spot to hunker, it's been rough on many everywhere this year- We are not the exception, but part of a large group in our boat recently.

Enough? Good friends like you make it OK to be here! Hang in buddy- Steak dinners are comin back, tho I'm not sure when!

Snag - I hear ya. I read Colorado is getting slammed for the 3rd time. And yes, it'll hit 71 degrees here tomorrow. Great weather for the mummers parade on Broad street. But in those costumes I think they'll be sweating quite a bit more than they're used too.

Hope your right about the steaks coming soon. This gargle in my belly is driving me nuts! I have a few things rolling right now, that may pay off in the next week. I'll get more into it on JBI if they pan out. Hmmmm, the food puns are abounding. Ugh1

*hugs*

the unnatural warmth this winter has been pretty convenient considering i don't really fit in my coat anymore, and i'm sure it is making your electric bill much happier. i must say however that i don't like it at all.. not one bit. one of the things i liek best about living in this state is the fact that the seasons change.. b/c i get bored easily... just as i've had enough of one season.. it's usually about time to switch to a different one. i guess it's supposed to be in the mid-30's this week. still no snow tho..

hope all is well back east!

Actually, it (almost) never snows in Sacramento, but it does just an hour to the east, starting at about 5,000 feet up in the Sierras.

Success for me right now cannot be measured monetarily. If I did, I would be very unsuccessful and nothing could be further from the truth. However, at some point, success will be manifested in a more monetarily significant fashion - I'm not sure when though. All I can do is plan the action, never the outcome.

... wow, I skipped a day, n everyone (almost) showed up!

SkyBL2U, I don't often ask for snow, either!

MB, I bet it's been safer for you not to worry about the ice-slippage-factor! Ya, I've had the heat off alot, n the windows open! Here comes a cool-spell, finally! Just in time for my two early-openning days-

oilF, Thankyou! Ya, I always thought of you as lucky... do you have snow there up North?

Mike, hmmm, the news station said the city was having snow... I know the sierras get snow... from your skiing stories! Make some snow-balls-

I just know the money has to catch-up to us talented folks soon! We certainly deserve it-

I make it a habit to count my many blessings everyday.... even the unlucky days. If nothing else, the unlucky ones teach me a valuable lesson for the future... so it's all good, and the struggle lessens.... as does the stress of life. Not that I don't have my moments, but I'm getting better with the baseball bat that swings most of unlucky ones away.

As for the weather, what can I say. It's global warming for sure. We've had great warm temps during the day.... all unseasonable for us this time of year. My daffodils came all the way up, and my back gardens already have their first "spring" flowers. All the buds have been tricked, and even the hydrangea bushes are showing signs of regrowing. With our first frost not even here yet, and February our coldest month to come, I shudder to think what the consequences are.

Hope you are well, sweetie!

Ellen, I'm very used to hitting "foul balls" myself! One of these days, we'll get that home-run...

Time will tell on the weather flukes, but I've thought for a long time it would get bizarre, even before I began this blog! Kinda scary- it's so unpredictable now-

Thanks a million for that "COLD REMEDY" tea- I've really needed it! (see the next posts).

Glad you finally made it over!
