MLK Day 2013
You lucky folks who get this holiday off rejoice-
I've not had the day off since I can remember, but firmly believe it should be. I always feel bummed out that the good man's Dream isin't revered more by employers of the nation that sought to honor him.
Ellen, a blogger friend from way back once did an excellent write-up for this holiday that did Martin Luther King Jr. justice on his Day.
She put up some great speech quotes also.
Then of course we have the Public Presidential Inauguration taking place on tv today after yesterdays actual formality.
If there were a holiday invented to commemorate you, what would the main theme be?
I think mine would be about creativity... Everyone do a project for fun that day! Micheal's little one dollar kits come to mind. I give them out for Xmas n got one for me I haven't done yet...
Lately I've been settling for these odd pics more often. At least I got out for a Post Office walk during a nice but windy day this week, n took this pic to play with. I'm so tired, but should have more rest time finally now that the other business is over- whew!
Yup, I have a dream too... !But I have to work again

My holiday would definitely be for a greener world. It would be a day like earth day. Just go out and appreciate the planet.
My holiday would be the big chocolate cream pie eating fest, where the participants have to do it blindfolded while dancing to fast fiddle music up in a tree. :)
And what is YOUR dream? Just making music, painting and chilling in that beautiful part of the world you live in? One day, my dear, one day you will have to "work" no more.

Tabor, excellent idea! I love Earth Day too! I usually plant alot of evergreens.
JanF, OMG! I'd gain more weight than on Xmas time! Fiddle music n tree climbing doesn't deter me... Sadly right now my dream is at least 6 hours of undisturbed sleep! N painting, playing music, directing films, making sculptures, getting all the books completed, n making tons of income doing that!
I don't mind working- but hate the job I have-
I'm sorry you didn't get the day off either, but I am happy to see your lovely post + Ellen's post from way back. She came from a wonderful family, huh? What happened to her blog?
I haven't seen the Michaels dollar kits. I'll look out for them when I'm next in the Sates they sound fun.
I like the idea of a Creative day myself. :)
Lynn, After a couple of years she just seemed to run out of things she wanted to say, as happens to some bloggers. But what she did write has stayed relevant n in my memory, especially the MLK post-
LLcoolJ, I always see tons of them when Xmas shopping in there . Some are wood kits too- I got $1 scroll-cut frames, some paint on frames, n movable wood-segmented lizards n scorpions. Of course there are bigger more expensive ones, n castles too- Of course we get those more often than other folks-
