Snowy FootSteps

Yay, the temp got above freezing finally! Boo- some nasty rain n piles of wet slush melting down all over. Every day I shovel the way to the road drain from the plow blocking it again. Everyday potholes grow more huge.

Woke up today to more wet snow piling up on the roads... Again the Cape n Southcoast are getting nailed (sigh). Guess other states are joining in the fun today. NOTE: We need sleds n sled dog rental service...

Dry snow is so much easier to drive thru, but the wet, sticky stuff is much more of a hassle.

Two Semi-trucks were stuck 50 feet apart  across the road to work in opposite directions yesterday. Both front n back clipping snow banks trying to take turns that are now to tight into parking lots to make deliveries. Poor drivers were red-faced n angry, shoveling away at mountains of wet snow in the way.

More local, weather related damages were noticed this week. The covered walkway between stores along the shopping plaza was blocked off with workman making a pile of fallen bricks, not comforting. An auto  tire store metal roof collapsed n they closed down. Businesses n economy are all taking a hit here.

The other day in the glass-covered entryway to Walmart there was a 30-ish guy in tan, insulated overalls holding a bag of groceries, while sitting on a bench eating. He was talking to a local young woman while they were waiting for rides, n I stopped to chat a few minutes after not having a cigarette he asked for.

Twenty feet away were a couple Walmart employees by the "In" door speaking to two cops. The dude was talking about being from the Lower Cape, then a moment later the cops came over, questioned n searched the guy! Turns out he'd just stolen some of that food, Plus they'd heard something had happened a few towns away he may be connected with. He had a knife in his long pocket- Now I'm glad I didn't leave that woman alone with that chatty stranger, because you never know...

I haven't walked to the cove water edge since the storm in January when this pic was taken. Since the snow has been too deep, n time eaten up by shoveling.

I have more snowy pics taken the past few weeks  (n today), but still having problems getting more good than bad ones. Some will get posted soon. Today I had to shovel a foot again-

Ellis, Do not eat the yellow snow!
I heard on news a woman stuck in the Kentucky 30 mile snow-highway-jam tweeted she had to eat snow because she was stuck there so long!
Here, we are getting a foot every time we turn around, are used to being stuck, n always keep non-perishable snacks in the car n house. Words to not starve by-

Here in Oklahoma we closed schools for 1/2" of snow. Yesterday and today. There is no snow on the roads as of right now. All melted, gone gone.

We got a lovely snow yesterday, about 4 inches and I cannot complain because I was gone for the other one. We have had cold weather, but not the endless snow that others endures. Hang in there!!!

Cloudia, I'm spoiled getting all good ones on the old cam. This one is tricky- Thanks . Aloha!

Ellis, there isin't equipment for road salt there, so don't want it unsafe for the kids. Here 4 to 6 inches doesn't cancel school anymore, just delays opening 2 hours.

Tabor, You're lucky you missed the 18 inches some folks got. Single digits right now= Brrrh! Trying to- Thanks

when I saw the NWS Boston post about snow totals, I was frustrated for you guys. we were lucky and didn't get a single flake from that storm system. I am super thankful temps are above freezing for the next few days! what a relief.

winter is almost over- New Englanders are tough. we can do this

I like your bunny tracks in the snow! Good shot, nice and clear.

Yes, be careful in that slush, can pull you off the road.

OMG, you chatted up a food stealer with a long knife, scary!!

And guess what? Soon I'm gonna make some chocolate chip cookies with walnut bits in 'em, yummy! Just thought I'd share that. Think I'll wash them down with some of my Red Rose tea, then maybe nap. Or maybe nap first.

oxoxoxo

Yikes - that chatty guy sounds scary!

Love your snow pics, although I am sure you are weary of the snow. Spring is on the way -

MB, Thanks- we have been so dumped on this year. Looks like we got all Alaska's normal snow- Finally melting some of the 4 foot pile-up away, but will take a long time to see the ground here. My muscles still hurt from shoveling.

Jannie, I was the bunny- went ouit n back in the same holes. It rained ontop of 5 inches of snow that no one had plowed yet. We're getting used to that. Never know what folks will try to do at Walmart- I still have cookie dough in the frig from Xmas time to use up. just bake a couple at a time, cause I like them warm- That's my tea when I wake up.

Lynn, The guy seemed typical n out-going until the cops came over. It's scary to think we need to be on guard everywhere. Thanks, I may post some rejects for fun.
