Village Sights

At the little church right around the block The bell is sunning itself... something's missing- The Belfrey blew off!

The pieces are still waiting to get carted away on the other side.
I took all these on the way to the Post Office n back.

All seems normal at the pier until you realize it's Labor Day week, the last week of summer, n there are no crowds!

The pier is the BG of this pic with an uprooted, mature oak on the bluff right across the road.

I saw even more tree damage, n it was a short walk...

The odd part is the quiet serenity now framing these elements of destruction. The calm AFTER the storm.

Such sad photos. Glad no one was hurt from the belfry fall. Such winds to bring down a belfry! The trees I understand with all the rain.

I like the way you refer to the bell as "sunning" itself. Poor bell lost its belfry.

Looks as if the weather is fine right now thankfully.

Grab Annie, The after- realizing we are all ok, no fatalities, is such a huge relief! Perfect days followed the chaos.

Tabor, but we are not depressed. We are lucky! We had no flood, n that's good. Thanks.

Lynn, Thanks. At least the Bell was secure n didn't fall off- n the church is still usuable. Such perfect weather, 60 to 70F partly sunny, dry beautiful days.

Oh NO -- where will all the bats live now?

Yes, glad on one was hurt.

Man, it musta been BLOW-ing. So sad such a historical church was damaged. But I'm sure they'll get it put back better than ever.

As to your comment at my place, yes AC on our buses. And wit hthe record-breaking number of 100+ days in a row and still that hot, the kids need it.

Still no rain here, and has been none except for a few isolated showers since October. BUT, I see on my iPhone it could be only a high of 92 next week, whooohooo.

xo

But...

JanF, had a few flying around me tobight, Keep eating those mosquitos I say... I like bats. Think they're in MapleBeard's hollows.
I'm sure they're still working on contruction funds.
Our temps have been great lately- no fans on, windows open here.
Too bad Lee doesn't toss some rain your way.

I don't see the sailboat!

Neo, the line for the boat ramp was non-stop all week! A couple of moored boats got washed up.
I don't recommend "Sailing in a Hurricane" which is the title of a sculpture I did 20 years ago.

Poor bell! It's sad to see these photos, I'm just glad you are safe and sound. The bell can be repaired!
