Chasing Rabbits
.
The back of the dinghy says "White Rabbit, Long Beach, CA"
That's alot of drugs n alot of rowing to get here.... Ask Alice... .
I heard a really depressing story on the World News this week-end that I'm still reacting to. A floating debris field from Japan's recent tsunami, about 500 miles wide, is traveling across the Pacific Ocean via the North Pacific Current toward USA's West coast. First the more boyant items will arrive, then the heavier, deeper junk. It will contain all manner of jumbled, demolished life stuff like buildings n cars.
So not only are radio-active Blue Tuna swimming across from Japan for spawning season, doomed to fail due to poisoning n genetic damage, while spreading their invisible plague, but the thick, deep debris field is expected to harm more fish, sea mammals such as whales, n disable sea vessles. Oregon n Washington State will have quite a clean-up on their hands, in the future, n maybe parts of Alaska n Northern CA also.
In a decade or two it's possible for some of this stuff to reach all seven oceans of the world, via main currents. (I aced Ocean Science in college) It could possibly travel all the way from The West Coast to my village harbor, just like the White Rabbit, tho I'm thinking the dinghy at least rode piggy back on a larger vessel, n used the Panama canal.

fault
it is very sad that the nuk Lear are plants were built on a well known fault line and even sadder that more and proper precautions weren't made in the actual event that an earth quake would take place on or near said known fault line.
However I do believe that we (the whole world-all earthly souls) should unite in prayer for Japan, the people & nation and our planet as a whole. Regardless of fault what is done is done.
loverly photos as usual my friend
That's terrible - I hadn't heard that.
I heard this, too. It's sad that the fallout will continue for years to come...
Tabor, I've spent alot of my life picking up other folks garbage from natural places, but this one is too much!
Ellis, I should've known it was George! Maybe some marine salvage jobs will open up!
Paige, All they needed was a generatot backup power source to pump coolant water- one little ommission in planning will cost us all. Can never say enough prayers, n finger pointing seldom fixes the problem. We're gonna need a very large circular file this time... thanks
Lynn, Because alot of folks don't see world news on week-ends, I knew some who hadn't heard yet too. I was shocked n disgusted to learn from a reputable source it has been confirmed sighted by fishing vessels.
Talon, I think this will have a lasting impact on many areas of life, including tourism economy, n the food chain of wild species. Thanks
That must have been such an enjoyable shot to work with
I never took Ocean Science. But did one semester of Astronomy. So much more is know now tho, than when I learned about the sky 23 years ago.
Yes, so sad about all the Japan devastation, and fallout, literal.
Actually there is already so much junk out there, plastic beaches some call them, the world over.
yes, depressing, but we Can clean it all up if we all pitch in!! ANd I know we can.
xoxo
JanF, Just the radiation leaking alone enough danger to deal with- never mind wood, bricks, cars, household cleaning supplies, electronics, ect that will displace species migrations n cause poisoning to parts of the food chain.
There is a "Plastic Gyre" in the Pacific where stuff always floats to- But now we're talking about hundreds of miles of totally blocked ocean space.
I'd advise to quit eating seafood- n the cat too!
Richard, I don't know how your comment ended up in Spam- but I found it there n restored it here 7 mos later! Sorry-
Yes, so many meanings at once.
