Turk Key Time USA

I am mostly thankful not to have to work this holiday. I'll be busy preparing food n visiting with folks. I won't be catching crowded sales this week-end, being more into the simple things.

Simple like getting off the feet n not stressing out...

We'll all become gobblers of goodies for a big dinner, with alot of deserts n hang out for hours. The phone will keep ringing n the internet will enable contact with all those relatives n good friends not heard from in ages.

Of course I mostly will miss my parents, grandparents, aunts, n uncles long since absent. This holiday will always echo in my heart with their absence. Luckily, loud Little Ones always take that sting away n add good memories to the pile.

I'll not take this ability to celebrate for granted, or the folks present either. Having the time n ability are very appreciated. Next year if I don't change jobs, I'll have to work on the day again.

Here's my little assembly of small. seasonal decor to cheer me on my table. Three little pumpkins, two ceramic, one a real mini, plus my new fave Dollar tree purchase of a solar turkey who dances (more like bowing) under the desk lamp.

Hope all in the USA have a good, long ThanksGiving week-end, n all others find reasons to appreciate family n life also, even if Turkey isin't your thing.

Pumpkins Out

When the pumpkin products run out after this week at work I'll be so relieved. I'm all pumped up to have Turkey Day Off this year, n a crowded dinner to go to nearby.

The Nor'Easter heading in for Weds may snow slush on my parade of errands in long market lines while  getting ready. Hopefully folks stay safe in their travels on the road to get to their gatherings.

I really like these altered pics, n am glad my ISP decided to keep me online long enough to post today. Was here yesterday to answer comments, but access kept cutting off. Guess the Net is very busy too.

These were on sale the day after Halloween at the market. I didn't get one, but think the group together is pretty interesting. I wonder if you can make pie out of heirloom pumpkins?  Back at the beginning of October I did spend $1 on a 3" Mini-pumpkin. I'll try to post a pic of it soon.

Enjoy the cooking, food, n company! Safe travels, n always be grateful...

Fro-Zone

Are we there yet? Folks of the USA are on a new ride this winter, n the main attraction is staying warm.

The ice gremlins have invaded almost every state, n here on the Cape, we're lucky it just arrived this week. Last week I was raking in a t-shirt. At the store this week I replenished my ear-warmers, gloves, n thermal pants supply.

I am in line with all the relieved folks to have decided not to live near Buffalo NY this year. I have cousins who grew up there, n have lost contact with them over the years. I remember old tales one time of them leaping out the upstairs windows to clear the front door, which was iced up under a huge drift n wouldn't open.

In the old days my Mother had been so good at calling everyone n planning cousin dinners. Now I can't ever get holiday time with extended family. I'm happy just to get anyone at a dinner anytime... But only at weddings n funerals really cuts down visiting.

Bet FB would make catching up easier these days, if only I had Hi-Speed Internet, plus was willing to divulge my real name, n B-date, (Not happening- I'm far too paranoid!).

I've had so little time for the computer the past few weeks, n keep falling asleep at it. I would be posting more, normally. Our town has shut down library hours with a deficit in funds. Also I haven't been visiting other the folks machine because they have different work hours now.  Tomorrow I'm finally going to have a chance,

This pic is from the boat ramp beach last winter sometime.  Seems to fit the weather.  Luckily we're not shoveling yet-

Flag Waving

Image by SnaggleTooth 2014Time to salute the USA soldiers again for Veterans's Day.

I always manage a Flag pic to save for the occasion, this one from July. I had a tough time finding it tho. Since changing computers Alot gets lost in the shuffle of what is on a stick n under a new folder somewhere.

My brain is still over-tired from missing three days of sleep last week, which I'm still catching up with. After work lately I've been eating dinner quickly n going to sleep before I get on-line for a change.

I'm hoping the Arctic Freeze heading in doesn't slow me down even more for a long period of time, because deck plant pick-up n leaf raking is still waiting on my ambition. I should be happy just to get to the store n get the laundry done, but There is still too much on the 2Do List.

Image by SnaggleTooth 2014I don't even know how folks get out of work for the proper ceremonies n parades for this holiday. Everyone I know still have to work, including me. At least I got up early enough to do this - I fell asleep on it earlier. Finally got around to altering it.

Strange Sign

Good sign for Halloween...

When I was Googling "Zombie" I found this pic with an obviously altered message of a traffic  road-work sign on the image. Apparently, zombies are big business these days according to all the internet coverage they get.

I have worked with several folks who love watching Zombie films, n think they could make a good one too.

There was actually a job ad for zombies to play part in a "5k Zombie Run" obstacle course on the Cape a few weeks back. Folks actually pay to participate to run thru hordes of Zombies! N the Zombies get paid... Not my idea of fun. But there are many who dig Zombies,  n acting the part- to the point of obsession!

I used to always watch scary films for the Halloween holiday. There were all the Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, n then the Halloween series of films. My Dad used to take me to the old Vincent Price "Dr Phibes" films when I was a kid.
Then I used to watch the Twilight Zone and the Outer Limits tv shows. Also I read almost the entire Stephen King collection, plus saw most of the book-based films, like "The Shining". n "Christine."
But probably the most memorable film I've seen in the Horror genre would be the "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" re-make with Donald Sutherland in it. Then there was the "Tremor" series. Two makes of "Dune" with worms also. I saw "The Omen" ones too.

This year I don't have any good ones here lined up. I'll be working extra hard for the holiday again, n on the day/night, so won't have much fun. The closest film I have on that theme now would be MIB II on dvd.

I found these lovely spider specimens loaded in my PaintShop Pro program's picture tubes, n quickly made this creepy-crawler arrangement.

Can't believe I didn't get back online to post this earlier in the week. Had it in Drafts a week ago. Unfortunately. stuff came up n I didn't get to any other Halloween creativity fun this year. An Inspection for insurance, n a 6-day work-week, right after being sick a few days- can really eat-up all my time, n de-rail the fun... but I ate a Kit-Kat bar anyways!
Hope you all had a good time. (I'm still picturing cars running away from Zombies.)
